I've tried, but it just doesn't work for me. It's like trying to watch porn on a scrambled cable channel. Yes, I'm old.

The censorship of the art is primarily due to Japanese anti-lewdity laws. I can't stand looking at censored porn, I've seen so many games that have wonderful art that I just can't play due to the censorship (still waiting for a decensor for Kamidori Alchemy Meister! That game was so good but I could only get myself to do one full playthrough when it takes 3-4 to get everything )

There isn't too many that are censored - the ones that are are usually developed by some asian people; where the rules regarding that are stricter.


I agree though, any game with censorship, makes it uninteresting to play for me. (Also for hentai animations / manga)

I remember seeing something in the 1990s a lot of big companies secretly held stock in porn producing companies.

square enix was the publisher of a 'molest your little sister' game early on in their history. Wonder why that's not getting a re-release?

I guess it depends on the game. Sometimes the censoring is not too bad and doesn't distract to much. Other go over the top some times and ruins the experience.

it is confusing though. you have these JP games where you are doing ridiculously inappropriate things, time-stop on the playground, etc.

and then it's censored.

like who are you offending with actual genitalia that isn't offended by the base content?

understand it's legal thing for everything coming out of JP, just an odd place to draw the line

Censored is ok if it's a commercial release from Asia where they literally HAVE to sensor to be able to publish, but user made stuff that's just available, no real reason to censor anything, imo.

When I see that the game is censored, I lose interest.

Cartoony does nothing for me in the first place, but if it's censored cartoon it's total WTF. I've downloaded porn movies looking for ones of Asian women - seeing that it was censored it got immediately deleted. Japan has weird laws.

I don't support censored anything. I bought a game from steam that turned out to be censored. Game said uncensored but the uncensore patch removed cat faces and the game had mosaic censorship. I got a refund.
