So basically what the title says.
I was thinking about trying one out myself, see how "natural" the conversation feels, which made me wonder what people think of these bots.

So my questions for your are:

1. Which site/sites did you try?
2. What was your experience with them?
3. Which of them would you recommend either free or paid?

Extra: What is your general opinion on AI being used more and more frequently to make adult media?

I'd suggest to try out Spicychat.ai, most other chat ai's I've tried had paywalled chat amount, Spicychat allows you to chat without having to pay any digital currency for each message.

Free version has restricted memory on chat so longer chats might become incosistent, altought I'd overall argue that they're quite natural (but very dependend on how you write yourself - it has a auto-answer option that might help out for your first journey if you struggle to answer in some situations)

I am pro-AI overall, but for now AI in games (SFW such as NSFW) just work out well for prebaking or gametesting, not for initializing it in the final product, NSFW games that were built mainly upon AI feel mostly the same

I have a huge interest in AI. not just NSFW content but everything from understanding the process of training LLM's and what the limits it can reach. i use it in both home and work environments to just make some jobs easier.

as for AI Adult Chat - i have tried heaps of sites, most are shit some are good. i have never used real money to pay for accounts as
1. it costs way to much.
2. i do not trust any AI adult site with any personal information or banking.
3. i pirate everything so why would i pay
4. i have only use free trials with throw away email accounts.

the 1st thing that i looked for was to make sure the AI was an uncensored AI.
the 2nd thing was to see policy about if chats are retained for learning or data retention (even if they say they do not keep records. i still don't trust that) - this was not for the purpose of wanting to generate degenerate content, it was how the AI would respond to different things.
3rd - global rules. some sites as soon as you put in a banned word, it will flag your chat.

if you go onto theporndude i have tried almost all AI sites on the AI list that is advertised as just NSFW chat bot.
i think it was bot3 that i found to be pretty good.

at the end of the day, i found self hosting was much better.
you will face an extremely steep learning curve but it is worth it
self hosting means you can use it offline, chats are 100% private, it is 100% uncensored, you can explore your deepest/darkest thoughts with zero risk*** that anyone else will ever see it
**the only risk is user error

i am still in the learning stages but this is what i currently use

front end chat interface: Silly Tavern - this is where the chat happens
AI - Koboldcpp - this run the model langue
Qwen3.5 - 9B - Uncensored - this is the model

there is an entire community that make character cards that you can chat with, there
What i'm currently trying to understand and get to work
ComfyUI - image generation
i don't have any model for this yet

Silly Tavern has the ability to talk with ComfyUI and that will allow you to generate images based on your chat.

Well, first of all thank you for your detailed reply. I'll definitely see for myself if the method of hosting and the customisations you recommended work for me.

I've been looking for a good AI chat bot and with this little 'guide' you've meticulously typed out I believe I'll be able to find one that fits my needs.

I tried spicychat.ai and I have to say I'm not a fan, however I do see why people would prefer it over other sites. It has a good picture generator, also it's pretty wallet friendly and the UI is just perfect. Minimalistic, easy to navigate.

On the topic of AI, I don't think I'm either pro or contra. I'm still figuring out my thoughts on it, hence why I asked what others think. Maybe it will give me new perspectives to consider when forming my opinion on AI.

Thanks for taking your time to share your thoughts! ^^

AI chatbots always struck me as a way to exploit people's feelings of loneliness to gather data. I don't blame people for using them, just be careful what you say to these things.

That's also a fear of mine so I tend to not tread too deep into these convos with these bots.

They are a fun way to spend a short time if you want to achieve results fast, but I noticed if you keep it up for more than 10 minutes it becomes stale since bots are just "yes and"-ing to whatever you say.

I'm a bit of a hypocritical AI hater, so I do dislike it, albeit I do enjoy a few AI picture here and there... Voice acting however is a big no-no for me

I like those with scenarios and stuff but the issue is that it starts forgetting things and messing them up rather quickly

The whole AI waifu stuff was never my thing.

Im having hard to find sites that have no restrictions.

These are the 2 main guides i have been using
- This is good as no expected knowledge is needed
- This one stood out if you want to create a world with deep lore

100% data farming and privacy are my biggest concerns

that's a huge problem. the internet is saturated with shit quality AI chat bots. to the point it has its own name "slop AI"
Chub.ai has a huge selection of user made "characters cards" - each character is given its own "personality" or rules that it needs to follow.
i found a lot of chat bot site's character card details were very simple.

the benefits of Silly Tavern (or other self hosted AI) which is also part of the learning curve. is creating the setting.
The below is my opinion why it gets stale after 10 min based on the Silly Tavern interface

Online Chat Bot
Self Hosting
User profilenever filled it out due to concerns with privacy -
allows you the option to provide a persona,
you normally have to have an account 1st.
most sites would accept a throw away email address
allows you the option to provide a persona - you can provide as much or as little detail as you want - you can describe your self as in real life or as any character you want -
characters cardssome sites hide characters card and you can not view them
some sites show them but you can not edit.
good sites let you both view and edit (chub ai)
allows you to create your own
give you the option to import character from other sites - Chub.ai lets you export a character card as a png or json file and Silly Tavern allows you to import it.
World Lorei don't know if i just missed it or not. i never saw anything about world lore in the chat bot sitesthis allows you to set the world your chat takes place in. you can have more then one. it sets the fundamental rules eg. you live on earth and magic does not exist or you live in the magic realm of Jizzback where all women remain looking like loli's but still mentally develop into adults and the peak alpha male status is an overweight neck beard wearing a fedora hat
Chat model IDCan not change, this is set by the websiteseveral options
Free - 100's of models you can download and use your self.
Pay as you go - connect to open AI and use large scale models
Cost of chat need to pay subscription to use all features, comes with limitsfree - using own hardware - limited by GPU
Pay as you go - pay per token usage, much cheaper then chat sites, don't know too much about this as i don't intend to use this option. however best examlep i can give is Deepseek AI charges $0.28 - $0.42 per 1 million tokens. (very very rough calculation this equates to around 750,000 words, in context the entire harry potter series is 1,084,625 words. so for $1 you can generate chat the entire length of Harry potter)
Image generation subscription normaly required, only x amount per month, otherwise additional cost.
unlimited
free - steep learning curve - big upfront cost for required GPU

Pay as you go - higher rates then chat, still a learning curve
additional chat usagenone, the product is sold as a NSFW chat bothave the ability to use the chat how ever you like,
change the chat model to a more logic one (one that learnt on coding)
change the character card to an asistant
chane user profile to none/default

after you wipe your jizz off. you can get the now assistant to code for you.

it's not for everyone, and it requires alot of work,
but if you spend the time building yourself, the characters, the lore. it can be pretty fun.

im curious on the opinion of voice acting. what make that the big no-no?

Because I have done voice acting, I know personally all the work it entails, all the passion and true emotion it provokes... Doing that with AI is not only an insult to the actors, but also to the audience. And it also sounds hollow, voice acting isn't just about a pretty voice reading things

that makes sense. 100% support that on an industry level. if they have the money to produce high quality content, then i agree, a voice actor would be able to provide the emotional element.

On the other hand. if average Joe is working on a hobby project, something they never intended to hire staff for uses it to provide a voice to help with the immersion, i also support this.

At that point they probably shouldn't use voice acting and focus more on the gameplay or story. Sure, now AI voiceover is doable, but giving it an emotion isn't as easy, so you might actually lose immerssion instead
