What's your opinion about remakes when the game is not finished yet?

I can totally see why it feels like some devs are milking the fans with unfinished games getting remade or re-released, especially when they haven't addressed core issues yet. It can be frustrating when the focus seems to shift to remakes or “deluxe” versions rather than finishing or improving the original game.

That said, some remakes do a lot to improve on technical aspects, expand the story, or fix bugs — and in those cases, it can be worth it. It’s a tough balance because a remake shouldn’t come at the cost of not finishing what was started. If the remake enhances the game and brings in new players while also satisfying the old ones, then it’s usually a win.

Sometimes it's just "Re" and almost nothing new so it's frustrating.
But devs wants money so many of them improving their game in remakes, though they reset your progress by limiting "new content", forcing you to play from the beginning and slowing down your progress.
But I definitely like graphics update or new feature or reworked script in reworked games.

Some devs just lose the passion and want to switch things up.
If remaking the game gives them that fire again and produces new better content, I'm down!

Depends. Is the remake an attempt to upgrade the game to fresher code or a new engine?

I think it's a pretty clear indication that this game is never going to be finished.

I can understand wanting to start a project from scratch to make something better, but it's just a terrible look for the devs. Imagine supporting some devs' game for months, only for them to announced they're redoing the same game but better!
It makes them look unable to finish the game at all.

It's okay when it has real meaning, and not just the author's desire to suck money out of the audience for as long as possible

i hate them with a fury finish the fucking game before you start again i don't care if you don't like how it looked keep going

I'm okay with that, as long as the remake isn't a 100% copy of the old game with better graphics. They'd be better off with newer mechanics and an interesting, evolving story.

if the devs are going to remake, id rather they release the new build at least up to where the old one left off in terms of story/content

i think many of times there is to be improvement with such things........ but also many of times it is un-necessary 😆..... remake or huge re-write only does delay the game..... as others discuss here it also may be from the developer 'milking' a audience. innocent witches had a very big re-write and has not recovered....... i am even unsure what that is about...... all it did was make the game worse and such...... surely to milk you want to hang it being better for the audience like a carrot with stick 🤔 i can understand when many developers perfectionism rears its head but i think they should finish the game first...... for those that do not want to wait another seven-hundred and seventy two years 😁 the re-making can wait!

it depends on the development pace. If there is frequent updates, i don't mind when some of it is used to upgrade earlier, maybe not as polished chapters.

That shit pisses me off, most of the time its just the devs trying to milk as much money as possible from their supporters.

I think it's great.

It is a chance to update graphics and take audience feedback into account and can give the developer a needed breather to get their head back in the game.

a game shoul be finished before making them a remake
