  • Donation Rewards & Vault Credit System Update
A new important update has been posted covering the Donation Rewards bug, the reset of incorrect Donation and Platinum credits, the upcoming reclaim system for previous tracked donations, and the new Vault freeze/maintenance behavior. The goal is to remove bug-generated credits, protect real donation history, and rebuild the system in a cleaner and safer way going forward. - Jack Of Blades

What would a dev have to do in a new update to make you stop playing a really good game?

Add new elements to the game without giving the MC the choice to participate.

honestly either change of artstyle, removing previous content of including completely paywalled content

I think that changing a model is a big no, except if it's a general upgrade in graphics in the game.

I'm not quite bothered by devs who take long hiatus and then come back and release a minor or major new version, I know they're just milking the cow, but hey, it's their life.

Let's just say that.. if a game used to be found in LC's restricted zone, but an update makes it .. ''suitable for Fuck95'' .. that's a pretty big indication that i'm no longer interested. :)

And in general, if over time the quality of the updates just goes down the drain; story gets lame, repetative or boring, or the scenes become cookie cutter. You can notice that the care is out of if basically.
This happened with family faring, I loved it so much but lost all interest after taking a break only to find out that it had been "sanitized" what a fucking loss.
Edit same thing with That new teacher, fucking hell.

''Remake'' like Being Super It was a game I really loved, but I don't play it anymore

When the dev gets bored and starts adding too many side stories or adding too many characters...having said that im usually in it to the end even if its a game I hate.

There is one game I remember playing a while back that went from fairly standard renpy VN to this horrible sandbox mid way through development. I couldn't keep playing after that and I am not one of the people that typically hates sandbox games, this one was just that bad.

Blanking on the name atm though.

developing the story quickly is a turn off, I don't mind a dev introducing a shit ton of characters but at least flesh their personality out for the player to actually give a damn about them

Puting the word "step" near the words mother, son etc, making all characters 18+, altering their looks, removing incestuos interractions and generaly making it Fuck95 friendly. But any one of those things in an update or a sequel without a patch or something to return things to their original state would put me off.

The only thing that will stop me is a pay wall. Or taking characters out late game.

These would spoil things:
1. Keep changing the code, so that you have to keep starting again.
2. Change direction of the games storyline, possibly because they've run out of ideas, of the original storyline wasn't thought through to a reasonable conclusion.
3. Change to visual appearance of the characters (unless it was for a higher definition).

Force you into some gay shit like obviously gay content, trans, sissy, cross dressing. In seaside mystery the mc is made to wear womens lingerie they say its mens but its straight up womens lingerie. Nah thats a no from me dawg.

Killing off the love interest really fucks me over, especially when it's at the god damned end of the game. Give them a happy ending, not this!

Oh man, you hit a few sore spots there 😩

Removing canon content or suddenly rewriting it like it never happened is a huge one for me too. I get wanting to polish things up, but when a dev erases stuff that players were emotionally invested in, it just feels like a slap in the face, especially if it's tied to a romance route or lore thread that made the world feel real.
Same with changing models, it's wild how a slight tweak can totally ruin a character's vibe. Like, don’t make her look like a totally different person and expect me to feel the same way 😭
And yeah, choices coming back without foreshadowing can feel cheap. If it's done well, it’s awesome. But when it's just a random “gotcha” moment from 3 chapters ago? Nah.
The slow updates after success one hits hard too. It’s like… they finally get the love they deserve and then vanish into dev limbo. 🥲
What’s worse for you guys, inconsistent writing or sudden tonal shifts in the story? Both are brutal for immersion.

Whenever the devs start dragging.. I mean REALLY dragging out the story way past their comprehension. You can definitely tell when a developer had a good idea when they started the game, but they didn't want to complete the game so quickly, so they started adding filler content.. and at some point they cannot recall the original vision anymore and they're too afraid to revisit and finish the actual story.. this is why games get abandoned because they cannot admit that they have no idea what they're doing anymore.

I miss the 2016 days when KVNs would be completed with a few months, and developers didn't default a perpetual model where there is no end in sight.

Nothing. If it's a really good game then I'm playing it. There are way too many tasteless devs and shitty games to turn my back on a gem that's still in development.

when they add a ton of side shit, like holiday events and you can feel they put more effort in that than the actual game. like finish the game before adding pointless shit

Do shit like an hour worth of playtime+ in - especially in ones where the beginning is boring (ie no sex) that requires a restart - old saves not working. That's definite delete and if a supporter it stops.

For me it would be removing old content that was "canon" previously. Same with changing models too many times, I've had it in games where the "new" model looked worse and that really sucks if that's the girl/woman you like the most. I also really do not like that suddenly a choice you made 3 chapters ago is NOW coming into play but was not alluded to. Maybe another one would be if the dev all of a sudden starts rolling really miniscule updates, but that's probably just PTSD from all the devs going on hiatus after their game becomes popular enough.. What do you guys think?
Changing important story content - like setting or characters personality suddenly with no good reason
