Started with japanese VN, RPGs too, then from western renpy first was DMD (didn't like) then Dreams of Desire (that's a hit ) from torrent sites. Didn't find the next episode for DoD so googled it and found the "other site" full of games....

I think Dreams of Desire was a first for me too. Before that I remember Corruption of Champions, but that's text-based.

A long time ago, I played a flash game about a robot that helped a boy control people's minds and then he fucked them. Started with his mother and sister, then his teacher and some others. A few years ago, I tried to find it again, without knowing its name (Robotzou). Searching for it, I came across Bad Brother Saga (Bad Bobby Saga). Then searching for newer versions of that, I found... that other site, and the rest, as they say, is history.

visual novels were never a thing for me, personally i just read books and comics, but the debacle about Light of My Life made me check the genre. The first one was a garbage but then I gave it a shot at Behind the Dune, Dating My Daughter, Myst, Fetish Locator, Sandstorm, Leap of Faith and I found that the deep character relationship kinda works in this type of game.
I still prefer more gameplay like Portals of Phereon and Black Market Mansion, but AVNs have its positives too.

Ok this might be a surprise, but it was not an AVN that started my dark path to AVNs, for me it was actually Cyberpunk 2077. I loved how I could take my female character and strip her naked throughout the game. Even the Witcher 2 and 3 with all the sex partners didn't give me that level of freedom. From there I began to search for adult games with nudity in them and my very first AVN was Sisterly Lust and I was hooked on that game. The fact it had incest made it even more amazing for me. From there I somehow discovered Dating my Daughter which had teases of smols, eventually my first smol game was Proud Father which surprised the hell out of me. Been a wonderful journey. Now I want my access to the good games back so I can discover more creators and support them.

Dating my daughter was my first AVN with Proud Father my 2nd. Our path is remarkably similar and yes the smols were unique.

I'm not sure there will ever be another game as good as Dating my daughter (especially the writing/choices). I know other devs will bristle at that statement but it is such a great game.

Legend of Nadia, when it was still early in development. Then played Lust Epidemic since it was the prequel and completed. I played both online through a site, which then led me to try to find a download, and that opened the gates to the world of AVNs
