nukige style. when the hardcore porn starts a bit too fast, i like a slow buildup

for me is a no go
combat sequences
censorship
time-limited minigames

Bad dialogues. Cardboard cut out characters. Fuckfest and not actual story. And most turnoff is UNNECESSARY REWORK. (Looking at you Summer's Gone)

Tags like: futa, scat, urination, sissification, bdsm, torture, smut, etc.

Bad story, characters and dialogues. For tags: combat, ntr, scat, futa, mind control, minigames and sometimes sandbox

i disagree. i have bought games i pirated because they were that good that it felt worth it to me. To me, padding to reach an artificial lenght ruins games. nothing wrong with a tight solid short game

Criticism and piracy. Lack of support too.
While I know what you mean, I have to disagree on all of those points.

Criticism is a valuable tool. Obviously online we have to deal with sifting through the useless garbage takes, there are sometimes valuable objective critiques that you can note and implement to potentially improve the product.

Piracy is shitty, but it isn't all bad, especially in this sphere.
I actually found a certain game through a site that had uploaded it without permission. While still kind of in it's infancy I ended up really enjoying it. Long story short I found the author and even ended up working with him on the game. I had given him a small donation and he mentioned that he could use the help.
Unfortunately this story and encounter turns pretty sour and the author ended up screwing me and the rest of the team over, if it wasn't for the site I never would have found out about the game
He also went on to be one of the first to try to implement DRM into his game (hilariously poorly for the first handful of chapters I might add) and all that ended up doing was create unnecessary hassle for actual subscribers and supporters. And who would of guessed that this shifted from wanting to put out a quality product to only being interested in money. Anyone that has been around awhile probably knows.

It's very true people are woefully ignorant as to how much time goes into creating these. I would definitely encourage everyone to throw even a dollar or two at a creator when they push out an update. It goes a long way.

To anyone that genuinely and strictly freeloads reading this - you've probably come across a game you've enjoyed that ended up getting stagnant, dwindling, or ceased updating completely. Majority of the time it's because it's hard to justify the time and return. Passion isn't an all purpose fuel. While there have no doubt been some bad actors and abusers of good faith and charity, you shouldn't let that thwart you from supporting something that gave you enjoyment and satisfaction, even if it's a paltry amount.

ps. Ketzal has arguably the best work on this site, you should check it out if you haven't already

I should have been more explicit about what I said.
I almost agree with all your arguments, almost. By the way, thanks for your P.S. ;)

By piracy and criticism, I mean people who will never pay a single dollar to a creator who gives them even a moment's pleasure (in the game, I mean), and who destroy the game because: "Not enough updates, the guy milks people, an update every 4 months? NTR? Cuck? Crappy renders? No animations?...."
Voilà.
I've got nothing against criticism, quite the contrary, but nasty, unpleasant criticism from guys who always know how to do better than you, but who just want to wank over images on the pretext that you don't deserve to earn money because.... multiple reasons. It's tiring, exhausting, nerve-wracking, and that's what makes people stop making games.

It's a losing battle against these people, but... who knows...

When a Dev starts creating more and more characters instead of continue with the few (mother, sisters) in a game, so every update is like 1 scene with 1 character and the game has like 20 of them...

NTR, Swinging/Sharing, Sandbox, Female Protagonist

Scat, multiple protagonists and ntr, the latter still depends on your approach to whether the one who causes the NTR or the one who does it or suffers from it

NTR, Swinging/Sharing, Sandbox, Female Protagonist
May I ask what's wrong with the sandbox? I understand the rest, but I can't understand why it leads to the sandbox as such, you can understand depending on how the sandbos is carried out there is a refusal to play it, but not to the genre itself.

Devs use sandboxes to artificially lengthen their games mostly with useless grind with barely any reward.
If one were to de-sandbox most sandbox games, there would only be a third of it left.

Honestly, I find it a little unfair to blame the genre because quite a few people use it badly, I'm not saying that I don't understand it, but in my opinion there are enough good ones to at least not rule out a game that carries that label, and even if it is true that it is misused, there are games that are worth the tedium.

For me, the bad writing first of all ruuns a game. Also, lack of choice in what kinks you avoid and who you fuck.
Two most notable examples for me are Sunset Fairies and Found in Translation. Both are written very badly and also the second one imposes an LI (old and ugly ) upon the MC.

For me would be futa, NTR, wimpy MC, heavy grinding, scat, urination, sissification, gay.

For tags: anything gay/trans/futa/sissification

For the game: lack of buildup, sudden "all sex" scene after innocent buildup. 1 picture deflower or the incredible stupidity of ramming the cock one shot in a virgin, a Japanese fantasy it seems.

There are some good sandbox games, but given the ratio of (good sandbox) to (sandbox put in because the dev wants to pretend they are actually making a game), it's not unreasonable for someone to say no automatically

And it's a shame, sandbox gameplay can add a ludoeroticism that VN's can only mimic through 'routes'
