The big Brother Remakes, Foot of the mountain, and there is another but the title slipped my mind
Same with the first one. I almost always play the games for the sauce (narratives are always complement things for me) and Big Brother has been an absolute nightmare to go through. Especially since the remake I was going through did not have any sauce :(

A sandbox game can be fun, but a lot of them just function as a guessing game before I can continue the VN.
Yeah, legit. I think a sandbox can be done right but most end up being extremely lazy copy-paste implementations from similar games.

I'll make a disclaimer right off the bat. I am a VERY big fan of sandboxes. But there are two exceptions that just pissed me off back in the day. The first is Happy Summer: https://lewdcorner.com/threads/happy-summer-version-0-6-0-caizer-games.2302/
The second one (but for me it's the benchmark of shoddiness, a symbol of developer's incompetence) is Sun City. https://lewdcorner.com/threads/sunsity-v2-00-sunsity.4364/
The claims are very simple - there is no storyline, hence the pointlessness of grind, especially in the case of Sun City, where the level of grind is multiplied by paywall.
But in general I enjoy playing sandboxes, from the projects under development I really like Bright Past and Straitened Times.
I can't stand kinetic novels, I've never been a fan of comics at all, I've always preferred normal literature, and not fanfic level stuff written by young schoolgirls.

Wake up, take a bath, spy mom in bath +1 lust, spy sis in bath +1 lust, go to school (this location is not implement yet check up on next update), skip time, go to breakfast+1 affection, skip time, skip time, skip time, help mom with dishes +1 affection, spend time with sis +1 affection, skip time, skip time, skip time, skip time, spy on sleeping mom +1 lust, spy on sleeping sis +1 lust, you are too tired to leave your room, sleep, rinse and repeat

All the time. I'll give most a chance but the second a dev starts not respecting my time is when its done. Lack of direction, needless grind for stats, viewing the same scenes over and over to unlock the next one, a bad UI as in no quick travel and a bad overlay map, having objects to click on that dont highlight, all things that make me just quit no matter how the rest of the game is.

If they implement it well, I do play it but unfortunately many games don't do that well.

I normally prefer sandbox over linear purely because it normally lets me follow whatever character i like first while getting to the others at a later time. Grindy games can be annoying tho

Sandbox games when I am not in the mood go on the back burner until I see a scene from it that makes me want to finish it.

I do prefer sandbox but games like straightened times just kills me with the grind and no hints

Sometime it can if it feels like the flow of the game is slowed down, Ill usually look for a guide or walkthrough at that point but if not I quit it.

Yeah there some games that only seem use it to create a sense of more content for the game as a filler for the lack of story I would think and in the process those games like Big Brother the issue becomes what is the threshold to continue the story which sucks.

The biggest one was Foot of the mountain i spent so many hours on got a only a few scenes and the art looked too good to stop. But i had to. Once it was finished i found some CG mode and used it. After all i am glad i gave up because in the end the game didnt have that many scenes i am looking for (clear view of genitals)

Depends really on the sandbox itself. I quite like them in general, but there are many faulty ones out there. Biggest killers for me are grind and terrible UI.

Grind makes everything feel like a chore. There needs to be a clear feel of progression. Otherwise it will feel unrewarding. You can use the grind to make it feel you earn something but there is a difference earing a nice reward (excellent and long sex scene, for example) or a slap to your face (no reward at all or lame and short sex scene, followed by even more grind).

Terrible UI makes it feel you're fighting against the game to do the basic stuff. Quick travel, inventory, NPC interactions... If it takes me more time to navigate a confusing menu than to perform the action, then it's a fail. Do I want to play the game, or fuck around with the nagition menu? Navigation should not be the main point of a game.

Yeah, happened many times, unfortunately a lot of sanbox games are like this.

If it's not very clear on how to progress then I give up
This, Any sandbox with a large area and no hint system can become a guessing game. Sometimes you need to be in a certain places at a certain time and the dialogue won't tell you.
