It's great because the more it is used, the better it will become. Then end result will be less work for devs and shorter waits for us. Also, those who are more interested in the story aspect can make games with less investment in the visuals.

I like Ai art for the fact it get game updates out quicker but I feel as though it's a little lesser quality than normal game art

I think they could be alright, but the art needs to be consistent and well made throughout the whole game.

As I do enjoy some AI images created by others, I do not consider the one making the images an artist in the traditional sense.

I know, it might be an unpopular opinion and I might grind someones gears with it....
Why:
When I create a image in DAZ and really put work into it, it may take a whole day to get just 1 image. Thinking of posing, environment, lighting and everything that comes with it.

As opposed to someone who is creating AI images, you don't have to apply it yourself. You let the AI engine do that work. Sure you might have to write how you want it to be, but you don't sit there for hours on end creating this one character... or create the environment you want that character to be in. Using different types of environments, props...
Try stacking a shelf of a bar for example in DAZ by hand.

As long as it well done and there is a story behind i can play it

Nothing against them really, but I feel games that don't use AI art are generally more enjoyable

I'm fine with it as long as it allows devs to have greater expression over what they're trying to make.

True for most AI creators out there. Without effort and post processing you are almost guaranteed to get mediocre outcomes. But doesn't this apply to all tools?

The big difference I see to tradtional tools is that the entry hurdles are extremely low. Everyone can get some results fast, but you give up a lot of control regarding content and composition and a lot of outputs are quite random determined by pretrained models. To get back some of the control, you have to put a huge effort into AI generated - or better - AI assisted pictures as well. You can spend ages with prompts, loras, embeddings, controlnets, upscalers, inpainting, detailers, etc which all require you to dive deep into the topic. Is that effort what it takes to make an artist?

And I wouldn't be surprised if a traditional analog artist looks judging from his canvas, claiming these DAZ guys are not real artists...

More people need to realize this. AI image generators are just the latest in computer-assisted art. We have barely began to see what they're capable of producing in the hands of experts.
