I don't know if it is already posted, but:

12 Angry Men.

A 1957 film where 12 jury are trying to take a decision if the defendant should be charged with murder on the basis of . I just love the aesthetics and the dialogs which with every minute passes you can feel
the tension building up!

The Dark Knight. Especially if you hate superhero movies and want to feel stupid for doing so

Airplane, was mentioned, but other movies with Leslie Nielsen are also top tier comedies:
  • Wrongfully Accused
  • The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!
  • The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear

I'll second this. I had to watch it for class years ago, and I'm amazed how well it's done. Just 1 room full of people, no cgi, no world or universe about to collapse, but great characters and interactions between them.

Minority Report and V for Vendetta just because this world is getting closer to having those become reality every day.

I don't necessarily mean your favorite movie, but what is something that people should watch at least once in their life? Could be because it is of great significance to the film industry, was the first of a specific subgenre that has now become a trope, or whatever other reason.

I'll start with Citizen Kane. It used cinematography that brought deep focus into mainstream films, and was an unabashed dive into American capitalism that hadn't been done as well previously (though I might have forgotten something earlier than this lol.)

What do you all suggest?
