What game engine do you prefer adult games to use?

it's easily Renpy by far. When you have twitchy fingers and have inadvertent mouse clicks being able to roll back is a must. besides i do not know how many times i have gone to save on another game engine and have not been able to.

those 2 reasons alone would be enough. however Renpy is also the easiest to mod games, especially when running into Renglish or Spanglish.

for me by far the worst is rpgm there are only a couple of games i will play on that engine namely NLT's Saga

Renpy. There's quite a few RPGM games that look good but I just can't deal with it. I understand why people like it and even prefer it tho.

Interesting....it appears that the general consensus here is in favor of Ren'py (I'm no different: I much prefer Ren'py). However, I'd be interested to hear the opinions of any devs around; after all, they are the ones who actually have to use it.

I prefer ren'py I like the rollback option and when I play a unity or unreal that feature isn't implemented.

There are a lot of good games in most engines in my opinion. I think I mainly prefer ren'py for VN though. If it has deep enough gameplay and a good story i dont mind the engine that much. But in my experience most of the VN I liked the most were Ren'Py

depends on a lot of factors. most h-games are visual novels so renpy is good for that. rpg maker has too much limitations for the developer and unity my expierience is most beginners make severally bloated games even though there has been some gems for those engines

Ren'py is my favourite and i actively dislike most RPGMaker games, though mostly for the content and not the engine itself.

For AVNs? Ren'Py cannot be beat. Unity isn't bad if you want to make some other type of game (and don't mind it calling home all of the time).

Renpy. I refuse to download anything using RPGM. I dont care how good the story is supposed to be.

HTML for a fast nut but Renpy I think remains the most accessible and fun mixture of types of games. Not the question but I actually really dislike Unity based games. They are far too heavy of a commitment for adult games.

for me renpy is the better, althoug like unity

I prefer games to choose an engine that matches the needs of the game. Ren'Py is quite good for visual novel-type games, but tends to be clunky when developers add a turn-based RPG framework or similar on top of it. Twine is the best engine I've encountered for heavily text-based games (though I've seen a lot of games not utilizing the engine properly). RPGMaker is an engine I tend to avoid. While I have encountered some really well-made adult games (that I really like), I've seen tons of games with a world design consisting of mostly empty space, or where the engine has been misused, turning it into a bad version of Ren'Py. I guess my least favorite engines (if those are considered engines) are Quest Soft Player and Rags, mostly because they require downloading some obscure version of an obscure software just to play the game.

baby - all the way (lots of documentation, no file size limitations, but any interaction not out-of-box must be coded in Python)

BUT - I have worked in RPGM (easy to build games, but very limited in things like file size and using map makes game look like 1980's) and Wolf (just awful, don't bother). If you want to build a text only game you can actually use Scribe (exports to HTML game which is ugh).

There is really only one engine that I will not play games in and that is Unreal engine (with a small Asterix). 3d movement and walking around doesnt work well in a porn game. It worked bad in the revival leisure suit Larry college game and virtually all the games i played on here. I think it would be nice if we could get a game like 'Almstriga' to perform more like Hollow knight and other games in their own genres. RPGM makes good games but the content in those games can be quite grindy and a chore sometimes. I believe there are developer tools and things close to custom game engines (made either from or in Renplay) either on this website or others (i know there's a discord that came from Modding for 'Rogue like.' I think If you are a good artist and not so good at programing they'd be more than willing to help you make the game directly or answer any questions you have and offer resources on how to code your game better like to use factory coding. I really hope more games go the route of haveing a coder/programmer and an Artist instead of just going down the AI path. The artist could get commission or get revshare w/e and the supporters get better content. Plus I find when there are 2 people engaged with a project you can enhance story by talking it out with someone and give/receive criticism while making the game and not after release where its much harder to change afterwards without pissing someone off
