Personally, I prefer sandbox games with 2D art as I find 3D graphics kind of ugly but it’s just my opinion, honestly have no idea how they even make that stuff! The best sandbox game I’ve played so far is Degrees of Lewdity mostly because of the loli and bestiality content which I know isn’t for everyone.

hard to choose one, my all time favourite is probably Big Brother but it was also the first game I ever played. If that game didn't hold such a special place for me I'd probably say Summertime Saga. I know, pretty lame answers, but those two had me so hooked I was putting in like 12 hour sessions everytime I played lol

summertime saga's still the only porn game that I leave the music on for, it's almost nostalgic hearing it now lmao

Fallout 4 (in build mode). As for NSFW games, there are quite a few (I personally rate Straitened Times and Bright Past very highly), in fact, of the projects presented here, only sandboxes are real games. Kinetic novels are not games at all, as well as some VNs.

Harem Hotel and The Headmaster, although I don't consider them sandbox games, many people consider "sandbox games" to mean any free-roaming and/or non-linear game. For me, sandbox games extend to collecting resources (money, materials, etc.) and investing them in improving certain things (your kingdom, domain, city, house, business, etc.), which is necessary to advance a character's story or unlock new ones.

Following the latter, one of the best sandbox games in my opinion is Renryuu Ascension, a good RPG and a good sandbox game.

I would have to say "A Struggle with Sin" and "Peasant Quest". The amount of choice in both games as well as the amount of content for each character makes them damn near perfect for me.

I'm fond of Another Chance by TimeWizardStudios. Good writing (both heartfelt and funny), great art, and mostly painless sandbox implementation (liberal hints and no real time pressure).

straitened times is a good one, the ui is a pain in the ass but it's definitely top 5.

Girl Life was pretty great years ago if you didn't mind playing as a female protag and could stomach all of the Russian wankery in it. There was an astounding amount of freedom and places to go in it with various different events you could trigger via a variety of different factors. Sadly they removed the ability to start earlier in high school and forced you to start at 18 and I haven't bothered to keep up with whatever they've done with it since then. I think anything before version 0.7 had the ability to start younger and spend more time in school before graduating.
