Walkthroughs for porn games yes. Walkthroughs from normal games only if I get very lost.

I prefer hints but depends on the game.
Some are really tricky in their choices.

Almost always. I'm usually not playing a game here to be challenged, and I've encountered a number of games on this site that turned out to have non-intuitive paths to things that I just take it as given that one will be useful.

Most the time in VN's its a pass or fail check that does not alter the game in any meaningful way but instead just skips chunks of it, in those cases I wont even try and play without one as I have little desire to fast forward though a title a second time just to see the missing bits that where missed for obscured reasons.

I'd rather use a walkthrough, than have to save before every choice to not miss content.

I prefer having a walkthrough at hand. Many games tend to have weird solutions.

Only if I want to replay the game or unlock all closed scenes. Like, dude, you launched the game - just play

They are nice if I missed something or really want to 100% a game but im stuck.

A walkthrough serves 2 purposes:
  • Cut through the bulshit and go directly where you want
    • Useful to see different paths or to replay a known game
  • Show what to do to stupid or lazy players
    • Proving you need to make some structural changes
That said, I'm up for an optional walkthrough. Maybe one that's only avaiable after one playthrough.
Any other means either your game is too hard, or nonsensical, for you audience or your game is bad but with nice rewards.

I second this

I don't have as much free time as i used to, i'm ok with trial and error but if the game is going to punish me for going in blind then i'm using a walkthrough. Losing the EX-S gundam for a GM3 in SRW4 made me aways check for all the secrets in each game

it is very useful. i overthink otherwise. i play game for fun, not for chess, not bashing the creators. i just worry sometimes that i choose not best option. walkthrough lets me know and lets me make choice without worry

It's good to have the choice. You can waste a lot of time wandering aimlessly with no reward.

While I prefer to not rely on them, I do appreciate when walkthroughs exist for when I get stuck or for unlocking content that might be hard to find.
