I read on certain forums an interesting thesis about this particular kink. The idea of protag (self insert) being so masculine that even other men decide to become females to be led by protag and part of his harem, his attention circle non achievable through common male friendship. Apparently there is a power play element in it.
Quite interesting conclusion.
