Remakes are usually great idea. They don't take off from the original. I would rather get shitty remake than shitty sequel.

I'm up for remakes! A lot of the time the remakes either make better renders or they swap to a better engine for the game. Both are appreciated. Plus, it can serve as a revival for the game too.

I dislike grinding and sandbox games. I have played a few, but my saves broke in later updates and I just couldn't care enough to start again. Remaking it as a VN allows you to skip quickly to where you left off even if you have a broken save. So less so from my point of view about the old games, and more about changing the type of game. You could probably remake a finished VN into a sandbox game as well if that was interesting to some people.

I wish all sandbox games would do a vn version

Personally I think people are too picky when it comes remakes these days. If the the remake is good, it expands the story and brings in new people who share your interest, if it's bad you still have the original and odds are it'll still bring in new people who are now interested in seeing the original as well just to see how much better it was.

I bet someone could take some of the very early 3DCG games and run the images through an AI generator to bring some of those old games back to life. I'm sure there's a whole bunch of old games that many people haven't played simply because the images are so dated and stiff.

As for the dev doing the remake as long as the game is finish then its okay.
Only time to do a remake before completing the game/VN is if dev runs into a hard block in coding that can't be bypass then and only then should a dev do a remake before completing the game/VN.

As for abandoned game/VN with the original dev permission would I like to see some games/VN's remade to a complete finish game/VN.

If the dev can not be contacted then as long as credit is given to the original dev then I think it would be okay as long as new dev does not try to get money for it.

They are great if they carry the spirit of what made the original one memorable, the Resident Evil games done remakes quite well.

I'm fine with remakes but not when the game is barely started or still very little content. Ideally you do a remake after you finish the game.

Per the industry, most of the stuff that gets remakes didn't need a remake and most of the stuff that doesn't get a remake desperately need a remake

Remakes and remasters are just easy money from an industry that has no idea what to create anymore.

Remakes can be great - the problem as stated by many is the example of Summertime Saga, where the game was getting close to complete and then the remake (i.e. tech update) started which stopped any progress for YEARS.

With respect to the OP - I disagree - the OP doesn't care about remakes - the OP cares about removing any actual game mechanics to make a lazy slideshow of pictures (VN). I hate that idea, especially with NLT games which have very rich gaming and world exploration experiences. There are already plenty of pure/kinetic VNs, Comics, and Porn videos for the OP.
