Idk if it's to avoid the "rape" tag specifically. The BDSM and Dom/Sub scenes that I've seen so far didn't come across as particularly "rapey" to me.
At least compared to other games I've played. That's a tag I usually avoid tbf.
To me, THS mostly just seems to be plot device to get the MC out of trouble as necessary and to add a bunch of Dom/Sub sex scenes to the game with a bunch of side characters.

Yes, 100% a feature not a bug.
The writer wanted to tell a story with those themes and "THS" is a way to facilitate that.
There's nothing wrong with that. It's a just a matter of preferences.
I just enjoy the other storylines outside of THS more.

I think it is slowly catching up because this version is updated a little bit more frequent (today release of Early Access 0.21 with day 44 and 45).
