alternate thread title: a lurkers 4am drunk sleep deprived manifesto on why porn tags suck now, and not in the good way.

i dont know if anyone else has noticed it, maybe im just going crazy, but porn tags like 10 years ago would help you find exactly what you were looking for but these days they seem half worthless for anything beyond driving traffic. (im not talking specifically about lewdcorner but about the internet in general) they are now by design made to cast the widest possible net, rather than narrow down what kinks you are looking for. multiple tags now have little meaning, or include things that can be the opposite of what you are looking for. for instance, when looking for incest you will often find works with zero actual incest but instead tons of pointless step siblings that frankly do nothing for anyone into the kink. the childhood friend is a closer relation than a blasted step sibling/mom. or the blasphemous futa/trans tag.... WHY ARE THOSE MERGED?!!!!?!? they are diametrically opposed things! a futa is a girl who happens to have a dick, they have BOTH functioning parts. trans is someone TRANSitioning to another gender the do not have genetically. a futa is NOT trans, nor is trans futa. but some insane person like 7 years ago now decided it was a good idea to merge the tags and the whole internet was like "yeah good idea" for some reason. traditionally the trans would be under the tag "newhalf" rather than futa. whoever first merged the tags should be stuffed in a burlap sack with at least a dozen angry cats. and then theres the worthless NTR tag, its got 3 completely different things under its umbrella. netorare is when some dude steals your girl, mc is not willing. netori is literally the oposite, you steal some dudes girl, some dude not willing. two LITERALY opposite things under the same tag....... then Netorase, is literally just the same as sharing, which already has its own blasted tag. also incompatible with netorare or netori, because the moment anyone gets "stolen" it ceases to be netorase, and becomes one of the other two. so why on earth are they all often under the same tag?! is it actually just to lure those ntr haters under every comment section there to whine and ironically drive more traffic there? yes because thats all tags are now. worthless traffic drivers and i hate it. its become a damn chore to find what i want now. and you have to sift through false positives, some with negative tags that dont actually apply, ive probably stumbled onto more misses than hits because of these blasted tags.

does this bother anyone else? has anyone else even noticed? do i need sleep? why does the rate of porn tag degradation seem to directly correlate to the percentage of scammer porn games milking poor gullible hopefuls for every penny?

Porntags should be as specific as possible and include all fetishes even the ones frowned upon so that everyone can find his thing!

Hmm, interesting. I've honestly never really thought about it. Futa/trans and the 3 NTRs should be separate tags. The futa trans thing doesn't bother me that much cause that tag isn't enough to make me either play or avoid a game, but I see your point. The NTR one does bug me abit because im ok with sharing but im not OK with netorare.

I personally feel it would be helpful to have a seperation into two categories: Main tags (like the incest tag for a game about a mom fucking her son) and optional tags (for a game in which you have one scene about a neighbour fucking his daughter).

I feel people may be missing out on some great games by blocking the NTR tag for example, even if the game only contains one very optional NTR scene

yeah, if i recall i mentioned earlier in the thread the system used by VNDB uses major and minor tags, and has them sorted by actual frequency. it really is tags perfected, and i don't understand why their system isn't adopted wide spread across the lewd side of the internet. the systems most places use genuinely seem designed to obfuscate what it actually in there so they can just drive traffic to games rather than tell anyone what is actually in them. it remains insanely frustrating. could probably make a whole separate thread about the gamification of internet traffic and how its ruined the internet... but that's maybe a bit too serious for a pirate porn site lol.

It bothers me just a tad that Futa/Trans have been lumped together. Futa is often misrepresented as well. Like the OP said, futas have both parts and yet most of the images or games you see with it DONT have both parts. It can actually be quite irritating as someone who isnt into trans but is VERY into Futa.

hmm, catching up with a year of back comments.... allow me to have yet another drunk rant, ive got two things to say.

1. i think some of you all are a bit confused, would some new tag specifying the difference between mother/son incest and just cousins be helpful, sure. but what i was talking about was in the inclusion of step relations under the same tag. if they are just step sibling or a step parent... they are not related at all, its a whole other situation. and this does not need a "new" tag, because one already existed, insekei. incest for blood relations, insekei for step. its a tag that USED to exist. my whole angry rant was about the fact that there USED to be more specific tags that USED to be used on every site, but for some unhinged reason, they just stopped like 10 years ago, and started consolidating tags rather than expanding them. stuff like incest vs insekei, or futa, trans/newhalf, trap, androgynous, femboy... these were all tags, and they all meant different specific things... and are now all bundled under futa/trans (which are two mutually exclusive concepts, if they are trans they cant be futa, and if they are futa they are not trans!) the tags for these different things regardless already existed, and while a more VDNB tag method would be ideal, im not even begging for that much. im only begging the lewd sites out there to bring back the tags we ALREADY had 10 years ago.

2. maybe this is just my conspiracy addled brain ive been thinking about this more and more as time goes on as to why this happened, and why it continues to happen. and part of it is definitely gamification of internet traffic, thats the simple answer. but given the radical levels of censorship that have been sweeping through other places like steam and itch.io most recently, i can only assume that at least on some level that this was a concerted effort to further control people. man... i miss the early days of the internet. when you could do or say whatever the fuck you wanted. i mean for fucks sake, this website might be the last god damn place on the whole fucking internet where im still allowed to fucking swear. anywhere else and the comment is auto deleted for "no no words" like we are all children perpetually trapped in fucking elemantary school. they want you to sit down, shut up, and raise your hand to ask permission to do anything. pure madness. unhinged people so afraid of offending anyone that they quitely shuffled away all the perfectly functioning tags, even shuffled away functioning search engins, so you cant find shit anywhere, and then once the whole place was decimated they went loud and just banned everything overtly because they already had pretty much won even without those last little places. i mean ffs this site basically exists because of fuck95s censorship. still fucking wild that a pirate site of all places felt the need to censor anyting in the first place....

In the same vein, if I were to implement a tagging system, I'd add a tag score from 0-100% so you can gauge the content of the work. Let say the game have some titjob scene, you would put 50% or how much focus tits job were featured. If it's a game that specialized and sole focus on titjobs, then you would put 100%.

From what I have seen, the majority of so-called step relations are actually the result of some software automatically adding the word 'step' to any description that includes one of the words father, mother, brother, sister, and sometimes a few more. Large porn sites do this to prevent their content from being obviously illegal in a lot of jurisdictions. Given that this is so common, in most contexts there is now an assumption that in the vast majority of cases you just need to drop all instances of the word 'step' to get the original descriptions. (Up to automatic word replacements that are done primarily to make it harder for copyright holders to find their pirated content.)

Therefore, always using the tag 'incest' for descriptions talking about step relations seems the logical thing to me and unrelated to the general problem of inaccurate tags.

I am seeing more and more instances recently of tags that have nothing whatsoever to do with the actual content. From the point of view of porn websites, the most important thing is that for each common combination of tags that people search for, they have a number of videos with attractive preview images and tagged with all these tags. For example, there may be a video of a boss shagging his old secretary. With a preview picture on which you can't see her old and ugly face. And a title "little brother takes his sister's virginity", which through automatic translation between various languages and 'step' insertion ends up as "small step brother removes her step sister's flower". Along with incest and defloration tags added automatically based on the title.

I doubt there is anything that can be done about these problems. It happens because of the profit orientation of porn websites, not because of some weird plan by governments or other dark forces.
