Content wise it's massively behind the other version. But tl;dr of what the "tech update" was doing was to overhaul the back end code and update all the art assets to make the game widescreen.

If you want the content just play the old version there is a huge amount in there, it will take years at this rate for the tech update to catch up with the original version at the current pace
