Yea.. it's official, he deleted pretty much everything from his SS and put it in vacation mode.

I have a dream.
I know it sounds utopian, but I hope there will be a time when everybody realizes that this is all FICTION and all the characters in it are just a bunch of pixels with no age at all.
This is fuckin' ART (!!!) and I am well aware that not everybody likes it, but that is OK with me, just leave it to the people who can see the difference between reality and fiction.

I was shocked when I heard about the abandonment of SSP and EGBE, but I hope that there will be a solution to continue these wonderful games in the future and I totally understand Ketzal's decision to give it up for now.
Hope the dev is alright, his last posts sounded very dejected, but I know it is hard to fight these senseless fights.

Unfortunately I don't think we will get a world like that, at least in our life times.
People do the same shit even with regular video games.
I don't think Ketzal will ever want to risk creating games like that. He just lost his livelihood because of that. The only good news here, is that he said that he will still make games, just not games with loli. He also mentioned in the post that he will "move somewhere else" and we will know where to find him. So it seems like he will probably just go to patreon with a safer game.
For the people that still want to follow his work and maybe support him even if he doesn't make game with lolis, I think you should pay close attention to new releases on cuck95 for the next couple of months.
Just to be clear I don't have any insider information, I am just speculating based on the stuff he posted on SS. I think he will either release SMTL under a different name on patreon or create a completely new game and post it there.

I want to say that I deeply respect Ketzal's contributions and thank them for the wonderful content. But the decision to end development of that content, I don't understand.

I read Ketzal's message. I'm aware of his Discord cancellation. They need funds to live. Understood. So, the decision is to earn under a new name with new content? Ok. Or maybe work an entirely different job? Ok. Everyone should be able to choose their own path.

For myself, and the teams that I'm a part of, the perspective is different. Obviously, there's pressure. Pressure from payment platforms. Pressure from game platforms. But none of our teams are caving to that pressure. The stories are unaltered. The characters are unaltered. Development continues.

I would have preferred if Ketzal had said that development would slow. That they need to focus on other things. Job. Life. Whatever. They could have worked dual tracks. With continued but slow development of current content, plus perhaps an investment in new IP under a new name. By giving in completely to the pressure and abandoning the games he had made thus far, he is giving the morons who fight against "pixel abuse" encouragement and a win. That's certainly not what Ketzal intended, but it is nevertheless demoralizing for those who are resisting this flood of empty virtue signaling. "Won't someone think of the pixels?"

I wish Ketzal all the best. Thank you for all that you have done. We will continue to create. Not for the money. But for the joy. Your joy and our own joy at creating beauty and beautiful stories. I hope others will join us. Join the community of creators. It's fulfilling. If you are passionate then let your creativity flow. Write. Render. Code. There will always be a place for you.

Always sad to see a developer forced to stop because of the times. But some people cannot tell the difference between reality and pixels, and those people will always try and control others, if not these types of games, then it will be games with too much violence, etc....

Just not the time to do these types of games, maybe try fantasy.... halflings, pixies.... etc...

Everyone has their own breaking point. I am sure this was really difficult decision for him to make. Don't forget that he quit his job and moved to another country to be able to work on his games. He was always trying to find different ways for people to support his games. He just reached his limit. From the interactions I had with him on discord, I got the impression that his passion is just to create art and stories. The stories in these games just happened to have loli characters. He wants to be able to make a living working on his passion. I think that is everyone's dream. But unfortunately this type of content just keeps getting banned. So as a fan of his stories and art, if the only way for him to keep making games and telling his stories is to not have this types of characters anymore, then I support him.
I think that if he went with the route you suggested of him getting a job and trying to balance it with family life while also working on the game on the side, would eventually lead to him burning out and abandoning the games.
It's a shitty situation. No one likes it. Ketzal is the one that hates it the most, since he just lost 4 years of hard work.

Well, I still think people have no idea how hard is to create and monetize this kind of content nowadays, lately the censorship gone wild everywhere and how little support these people get while they could just make Patreon safe content and make x10 more money. I'm 200% sure if I start make safe content I can make at least x10 more money that doing what I do now, I have friends that make much less content and lower quality that make stupid amount of money.
SSP was like one of very few VNs I was keep reading and it sux but I'm also not surprised at all, everything will be fully censored, so everyone should enjoy what you have now while it last, in few years you gonna have to go dark web to watch fictional non-safe content.

Yea... I think in the long run if he rebrands and starts a safer game, he will be a lot more successful financially. SSP is 4 years old and if you look at the content at the start of the game, it looks better than most of the new games coming out today. And he has improved a lot since then. It sucks that he has to censor himself and that all the hard work he put into SSP and EGBE has gone down the drain. But I think he will still be able to tell great stories.

Man that sucks, but in a weird way good too.
The story was getting really unwieldy, and more and more it dipped into flashbacks, and what felt like a weird flashaside if that makes sense, instead of making decent progress.

I loved the game, great renders, great writing, but got a little too bogged down in family history drama and conflict instead of interpersonal relationships and growth.

Hope Ketzal starts a new project of a similar vein but sticks to what make their work so great to begin with.

As long as Visa & Mastercard and company have everyone's balls in a vice there isn't really a path going forward. The only way out is decentralized currency and literally everything in the universe is being done by them to fight it.

Yea there is a very big push for censorship of adult content. But unless there is an actual porn ban, there are plenty of safe ways to create adult games.

Yes and no, it is complicated, and I don't want to drag the thread off-topic. The quick version is that after the whole children of Pornhub article, Pornhub was sued. They also sued the credit card companies, Normally the CC companies argue that they did their due diligence, it looked like an up and up porn site, nothing illegal, then courts agree and the CC company goes about its business. That did not happen in this case, a judge allowed the lawsuit to continue, holding them accountable for what other people illegally did. That is what started the attacks on adult games and manga with petites in Japan, and the attacks on more and more content over there. The Australian group just piled onto something that was already happening and added fuel.




The woman mentioned in the article has hooked up with a massive law firm, and they are targeting all the deep pockets involved, including the hedge funds that invested in Porn Hub with a group of over 100 defendants. That is what has the entire adult industry running scared right now. This could break the entire adult industry if they successfully split money processors from content.

I actually hope that the cc's simply start banning ALL porn rather than just this or that kink or format. Maybe that will be the push the porn industry needs to all band together as one and just make their own damned bank as an industry (not 5/3.com or PNC.com but Adult-Bank.com). I seriously doubt they would just lay down and die gracefully at any rate. Though they are repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot and have been for 20+ years by offering porn for free and at this point it's probably too late and they are bleeding out from both mangled legs and not just a foot. As the saying goes who pays for porn anymore? As it is there's no need to. Only reason I paid Ketzal was because it had lolis.
