But either way, please stay on topic, no criticizing the Leakers. They are what helps to keep LC up, too.

I see. Sorry about that. Seems I misunderstood.

Unfortunately, it IS over 14 days. If it was any less, I could remove it altogether. I'm kind of limited here. But you can take comfort in knowing I won't update this thread. I got shitty internet, anyway. And a lot of people don't seem to read the comments before asking questions here lately.

Once again, I have nothing against someone pirating my game. I know very well what this site is, and even if I'm not against piracy, I'm enraged when a BETA version leaks, but I'm only annoyed in the long run by what I can control.
All I ask is that MY links not be shared. Sharing MY links could jeopardize my work. I won't explain here why, but I just ask to avoid sharing my MEGA links of versions I don't make public myself.

Hi, I have a question: what is the difference between the HAREM (Family Path) and The bonds of blood choices?

That is, does the bonds of blood imply that there is sex between family ties (therefore between Leana, Alice etc...)? If this is the case then what changes with the Family Path (HAREM) given that you also have sex with family members there?

And more importantly, how many save files do you need to create to have all the game routes and not lose any of them?

Isn't it possible to make it so only the thread owner and moderators can post links in the thread? I get that people view this as a pirate forum, but it's not like we have a lot of games like this (especially after the whole australia thing), it is kind of dumb to post links that can end up hurting the dev. I don't really see the point in leaking updates if the dev is doing public releases anyway.

As for being enraged about a Beta version leaking.. seriously? That's basically the whole purpose of a Beta... maximum testing to dig out those bugs.

It's kind of funny watching Devs go from humble pirates themselves to entitled businessmen when their projects start earning some coin. You love the exposure these sites give you on the way up, and then shit on us for being ... well ... us!

People that want to support you are still going to support you. If you're looking to shame me for something I have done for damn near 30 years online, you are wasting your time. I was a Pirate long before I made my first game (yes, I am a Dev too - and no, I'm not going to say who... although one of my games is on here (pirated ironically - but that's Okay ))

Oh and btw, bug report... clicking the Gallery from the main menu when you first install the game causes an error. Seems to only happen on a fresh install, which makes tracking it down tricky. I didn't save the callback, but it started with a bunch of unknowns, so I imagine it's an issue with loading variables (maybe fixed with an afterload call?)

Second issue I saw right away is that you have a brief transparent screen showing before your splash animation starts. It's probably the delay between Ren'py clearing a scene and starting the movie up. You can fix that using the first frame as a starting image...

Anyhow, great game. Love the renders and the lewd content. I'm not a huge fan of the whole - everyone in a harem thing - so I wish there was a little more non-lewd story to flesh things out, but obviously the lewd stuff is your main draw and it sells.

In my opinion ketzal you have every right to be upset. You are very fair on your public release times. For people to release an inferior version just days you can put out your version is pointless. Their are other devs that release date are far more spread out. Those game are more more worth it again in my opinion. So I'll be waiting till your official release to play!

I'm not offended. Really. You can't be a pirate for 35+ years without having a thick skin.

I disagree with you though about the value of piracy in general. Especially in this modern era of financial hardship and rampant inflation. Piracy is a check on consumerism getting out of control, IMO.

I believe that most pirates are like me... we will dig and find downloads for almost anything that interests us - then play it and delete it. When something is good though, we'll buy it, or in the case of our VN's... support it with a donation or a sub. In my case, I usually buy the collectors edition of games after I have tried them. For movies, I do the same thing. Doesn't matter that I have 5 different versions of LoTR on my hard drive... I still love my collector set with the replica Anduril sword. I just refuse to drop AAA prices on something when all I have to go by are the limited previews the developer actually releases.

As for your supporters, in my experience, they support you because they want too. I'd bet serious money that many of them found you through a site like this and, even though they could download a pirate version, they still subbed to you. At least, I see that in my own subs on SS. I also had some similar experiences you did ... ie: getting shit canned by Patreon and losing my main support. Because of SSP's content, you also got booted off 'that' other site though and honestly, I am very happy to see you do so well on SS. I'm starting to get some traction on SS now as well and I am well past where I was on Patreon and I don't have to be concerned with my incest content pissing anyone off anymore - which is a huge load off me.

Finally, it's not like you can advertise SSP on any main stream sites. Sites like LC here are essential for exposure of our little 'niche' stories. And these sites wouldn't be around if there was some way to prevent people posting pirated versions of our games. In my own case, I usually give my subs a week's head start and then post everything publicly myself. I don't bother with the whole cascading release schedule. That's just me... I find it's a lot of work that only pleases a small amount of subs, and those subs could leave tomorrow anyhow. My time is better working on my games.

I know this site and 'that' site are at odds, but just as an example of the value of these pirate sites - when I released an update recently, I got 200K views and over 25K downloads in 24 hours on 'that' other site. That then tripled my SS subs and even gave a small boost to my Itch sales (Itch is just a daily trickle, but still, it's $$ and exposure) Of course, a third of those new subs then immediately paused their subscriptions, but that's just SS for you. People turn it on and off to better control their spending. They'll be back when i drop the next update.

Anyhow, I truly do wish you all the success. And I promise not to post anymore pirate links (for a few monthsat least! - haha!)

It is nice to see someone go from being blacklisted and defunded to being a success on SS. In the Dev forums on 'that' other site, too many devs are sucking Patreon's tit, to the point they kink shame those of us who like 'family' stories or smols and they don't realize that they are (ironically) being groomed by Patreon themselves, to produce the same ol' vanilla crap in the hope of getting on the Steam wagon. That just makes me sad and angry, TBH.

The thing about leaking early versions of these games, is that very often those versions have bugs and you end up having to wait for the public release anyway. So I don't really see the point in doing that.

Well, of course you're in your right to be pissed, but also would think about how many of the kind souls that really throw money in your direction came from this site, or similar piracy caves. The lewd games development (and even more the "sinner" ones) is not an open market situation, and have almost no other promotion sources. Pirates an devs, in this scenario, share some kind of mutual benefit unspoken pact.

Piracy and it's positives and negatives can be discussed until we're all dust, and consensus still wouldn't be reached.
But for the piracy discussion on this particular thread, I think it has run its course. And this thread is actually about Such a Sharp Pain, and not how much someone (even if that someone happens to be the dev of this game) gains or loses from having a game leaked.

It's an interesting topic though, so I encourage anyone with something to say to create a topic about it in the General Discussion forum.
