Story elements that make you STOP playing a game?

Anything where I'm forced to engage in a fetish/kink that I don't want to. To me that's the whole point of a game being interactive, is to have the power to control where the story goes.

Corruption games that start slow in step 1 and 2, but by step 3 its cranked up to 11 all the sudden.

Also the attempts at humor usually is a killer.

Forced NTR or introducing a much more masculine male character to basically one up the mc

Poor english does it for me. I also struggle with long winded stories. An MC who is supposed to be YOUR character but is written to be either an idiot, or an unlovable jerk is also hard to go through.

Sadism from the point of view of shock value only.
As well, when people are obviously using assets from the asset store with zero consideration for the actual story (eg. a "story" grounded in realism introduces a fantastical character or uses assets of conflicting art styles)

Mind you, I also prefer to watch porn with "plot" like MissaX, so I'm critical of Gonzo and film school styles...

I stop playing when the story drags on and on. It feels too much like anime starting another arc.

Too much narration is also a problem. I don't really want to read a wall of text about what the MC is thinking.

Ik its not really too big a thing but poor english translations and bad grammar really throw me

if history makes me choose between terrible options or if a translation is just bad

Dumb dialogues. Sandbox elements, when you need to do something on a certain day several times and you have to scroll through weeks to get further.

Some bad grammar I can understand or typos here and there aren't bad, I see that in published books sometimes. Things that are added to the story for no reason or that don't make sense irritate me though. Like the author had a fun thought that would be great for another game but didn't want to make another game so they just throw it in without even trying.

I'm not talking about NTR or gay or some fetish thing.

I'm talking about things like the below for me:

* Really, really, really bad writing. This is most noticeable when guys start writing a story like they think they're Quentin Tarantino. "You're a Mafia kingpin who needs to kill the other Mafia guy. Also you fuck your own kids." There are good examples of this stuff, like the stuff in The Guardian and similar games, but there's also a LOT of really bad ones out there where people just think "hey, I like porn, I like Guy Ritchie movies, what if I could just write a story like that?"

* Nothing happening. Just...nothing happens. At all. Ever. Long, elaborate interpersonal relationship stuff and discussions, but then...nothing. Especially noticeable when paired with the first one - bad writing - because there's nothing worse than listen to a dev talk to themselves through two characters for 5,000 words and then have nothing happen.

* Terrible humor. It's one thing if it's supposed to be a bad joke, that's fine. But humor is HARD to do well, and when you try and make something legitimately funny but fall short, it's painful.

* Characters singing & dancing to songs with the lyrics written out. It's kinda cringe. This is especially bad when a character is into music that they would not legitimately be into. Like "oh you're a 17 year old Korean girl from Portland? Surely you sing along to Def Leppard songs in the car. You're a balding 60 year old white banker? Your karaoke song is Kendrick Lamar, of course." It's just....it's painful.

Don't underestimate the power of music, I've met people with tastes that absolutely do not match what you would expect from a surface level analysis of their personality or the region they come from.
There's literally a bunch of old men in every smol circle who are obsessed with Kpop.

The only two things that comes to mind are cringe dialogue like a girl talking like she is from an anime even if the story takes place on another planet or when the dialog is really fake and forced making everyone sound like a bot or a psychologist without emotion

When interesting characters that you've spent hours developing great relationships with and feel invested in their story suddenly become super slutty cock zombies. Like the shy virgin neighbor you've known since childhood and have been working towards finally hooking up with just turns into a slutty fuck-toy because the dev got bored and rushed the finish line.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy both slow-burn and fast-paced games, but when an interesting slow-burn just rushes and ruins any investment you had with characters, its a game killer for me.

- a bad story combined with lots of dialogue
- when a penis is unnecessarily too large - usually an indicator of other things in the game which are out of balance.

too slow paced history, too much grinding, rushed or bad writting ending, too many place holders
