Highly depends on the context and the story. Do you have a harem like in Desert Stalker? You bet your ass your girls better be paying tribute to you. On the other hand if you have Strangers on Paper, I frankly don't care if there is never a sex scene, I'm fully invested in the dude and I want him to find happiness. The writing is just that good. There are other games that try way to hard to stick you in sexual situations with your corruption target right off the bat. I kinda just roll my eyes now at those, like the mandatory "falls on your face while she's wearing a skirt," or the "mandatory let's go buy clothes scene while I perv on you in the dressing room," or the my favourite, "ooh daddy's asleep on the couch, let's jack him off even though I have no idea what it means. Ew it made white goop!.... let's taste it." Because THAT happens...Should a game have a sex scene starting from version 0.1? Or, should the Dev hold off until the scene feels like part of the story?
I've noticed that in games where the story is more of a slow burn, the Dev might include a throw-away sex scene in versions 0.2 or 0.3.
Sometimes it's a character that was introduced only for the sex scene and just in time for the scene. Sometimes it's a daydream about a random character you might not see again.
I understand that the Devs feel pressured to give something since (usually) people are paying for the games and don't want to pay for no payout.
If it feels forced, then it feels like it undercuts the story.
So, my question: Should the sex scenes wait until they feel part of the story even if that could take a few updates?
Or, do you not mind a sex scene that doesn't necessarily feel like part of the story itself?
