Localization issues, game crashing, abandoned by developer

adding ruinous tags such as "gay," "futa/trans," "sissification," etc. also some people need to go back to elementary school to learn to spell. and i'm not referring to those who have english as a second language.

too much mini games
For me, it's basically ANY minigames. I hate them with a burning passion. I cannot think of a single minigame I actually enjoyed.
Edit: should specify, REQUIRED minigames, it's fine if they are there, just make them side garbage as they should be.
Worse if it's in a porn game, I'm playing for a fap, not to go sweaty.
Complete shifts in gameplay count to me as well. RPG? Here's a race mechanic you'll never have to use again, but you HAVE to win to continue.
Moon logic puzzles and trial and error till you accidentally get it right gameplay will also make me drop a game so fast.

Biggest reason to walk from a game for me is "engrish". Misspelled words, bad grammar, and weird word choices will cause me to lose interest almost immediately.

I get that not everyone is proficient in english, but come to a place like here, or if you have a pay site find a member, and have them proofread your translation. I can't imagine not being able to find a volunteer with decent english skills.

i dont really drop games, which is to say i dont stop playing in the middle. anything i get i play all the way through the current update, and then keep or delete if i liked it enough or not. and then i forget about them because in progress games take months to update

I think I've played through every game I've tried out so far (not in a completionist sense, sometimes only 1 playthrough). Whether I return to a game as updates drop depends on how big or frequent updates are: if they're too infrequent or too small for my tastes I stop thinking about the game. Maybe I'll revisit them a long time down the road, or maybe I never will.
Based on some of the other comments, I guess I've been lucky enough to never have an update or mandatory part ruin a game for me.

  1. I can't for the love of god deal with a ugly art game, unless it is part of the charm (comedy most of the time)
    • This means that drop in quality also makes me drop a game
  2. Story-focused must keep the story interesting as much as possible
  3. Gameplay focused must keep the gimmick fresh as much as possible
  4. And the fap fest, well, consistency on the trope and variety fo scenes are a must

If a developer abandons a game, I see two extremes. One is when they make a huge fortune in a short time—like some games I played where the developers raked in big bucks from Bitcoin and just ditched the game. The other is when they can't sustain it financially. For players, if I've subscribed to a creator but the developer treats us like fools, I'll quit too. That's a matter of character, not just the game anymore. Yes, I'm talking about Agent 17

for new games, it often graphic thinks but not if good/bad. It more "catch me" or not. I like some RPG Pixel game more then HighEnd 4k VN.

Honestly, I'm not one to drop games, but if anything takes too long to happen, I'll drop it.

POV switches are annoying to me. I like following one character through the whole story.

Spelling mistakes usually kill my interest. 1-2 mistakes is acceptable (especially when the game is huge), but when I see 5 incorrect words in almost every piece of dialogue - I drop the game

Grind is obvious one but also for me it's when there are hot sex scenes and at the very end the MC just wakes up and it's like "JK that was just a dream lol..."

Really terrible writing.

VN's don't get a pass on writing because they have images. If your writing isn't good enough I'd read it as erotica, it either needs to be brief to set up the fantasy of the porn, or you need another draw to the game like game mechanics or interactive scenes.

Bad/Too short animations. There are a lot of games where the sex scenes are one looping animation with no dialogue/descriptions and then the MC cums. If the whole scene finishes by pressing space once or twice it makes it seem like premature ejaculation. At that point I would rather have an old school game with still frames and good writing.

I don't like games that you only read and read...

Sometimes engrish is funny. And if it's a weird jp game that has no translation, MTL is often the best i'd get. But as long as it's understandable

I have dropped games due to atrocious English, like I cannot even try to figure out what they were trying to say bad, and for major decisions being made for you that go against your playstyle

Very true.

The problem for me is different countries/regions have obvious "English styles", names, and artwork. My brain picks up on them and I start reading them in very bad movie parody accents. I had one that appeared to come out of Eastern Europe and everyone got a bad "Boris and Natasha" accent. Another one came out of the UK and got stilted Monty Python accents. It sucks because it really does kill the mood...
