Complete VN Ren'Py VAM Rational Chaos [Seasons 1-2-3 Complete] [Goosenards]

Maybe I don't understand something. But isn't the demo version of the game available to everyone for review? It's like showing people what the game is like. No? Usually all developers do this. I'm talking about the game SPARKLING DUPLICITY if anyone doesn't understand.

Yes, Sparkling Duplicity is out as a demo for "public" consumption, but I don't quite see how that's relevant to this thread (other than having the same dev).

Well... I didn't know that the game was already available to everyone. I didn't find it on the site. The question is closed then.

I'm sad to see this one come to an end, but it's also nice that it got a proper end. While I agree with many commenters (and the dev themselves) that the ending feels a bit rushed, it doesnt' seem too rushed to me. We get a pretty good idea of how future life is for the family, and there aren't really any unresolved plot points or deus-ex-machine-just-so-that-this-is-over things. Seeing that Goosenards wanted to move on from this, I think they did so in a very gracious fashion.

There is one aspect about the ending I feel ambivalent about: Delilah doesn't return to the family, but instead lives her own, very successful, life. On the one hand, this outcome totally makes sense for her, and I'm all in favour of female characters not just beholden to MCs dick. On the other hand, I obviously wanted to see her pregnant with her dad's baby. My compromise would have been to have Delilah and Kayleigh reconcile and marry, and then have Delilah use her dad as a sperm donor once the two want a second child.

Is it completed completed?? Or only episode 3 of season 3 is finished and there are more chapters and/or seasons left??
Are they going to release episode 4 of season 3??

Is a mod needed for the completed Season 3 ?
No, both season 2 and 3 are kinetic, as in, no choices to make, so they don't need a mod. Also, they're standalone as well, so they don't use save files from previous seasons.

I see and appreciate everyone's thoughts on the game as a whole, and I don't disagree with a lot of you.

The reasoning behind it is not a secret, in fact I've been quite open about it throughout the dev process here, on discord and on my substar page. This was my first full solo project, my initial ambition was far greater than my ability. If I had stuck to my original plan for the story, it would've ended being (at least) twice as long, with more side characters and stories affecting the cast, but by the end of season one I knew if I wanted to keep that plan that I would end up spending years on developing it, and I just didn't want to do that. As it is, All three seasons sucked just about all of my free time up in the year it took to develop (which is minimal as I usually work 50-60 hours per week). I haven't even finished BG3 yet because I've spent so much time on this! :p

Good news is RC was a great lesson in time-management and improving my workflow as a dev. I don't like to quit things, in my opinion a rushed ending is better than no ending, so that's what I did. And by rushed ending I still mean sinking months of work into a project I knew I couldn't really finish the way I truly wanted to. I understand it's not ideal, but what really is?

All in all it was a great experience for me; To my awesome fans and supporters, I truly appreciate all your kind words and encouragement, and I look forward to continue making smut for both your, and my pleasure. ❤️
gotta congratulate you, it's important to recognise that and scale down when necessary. Most devs can't do it and go the other way around, start getting even more ambitious and this bites them in the ass hard, as the plot doesn't move forward and players get frustrated, as does the dev.

I just finished playing all 3 seasons..

HOLY SHIT was that good.

Enjoyable story, sorry I could not sub to you for longer Goose.
Agreed with what others have said, that fathers sex with Delilah was mostly transactional, the whole family orgy on the beach, she seemed totally up for, and loved getting a daddy creampie.
I think Delilah also enjoyed the three way sex in the hotel room with Britany.
At the beginning of the VN she was my favorite girl, her being in a lesbian relationship helped with that, but IMO she was also the prettiest, was sad to see her chop and dye her hair.
The ending with her would have been so much better if he would have just given her the money without extorting her for sex, making her literally a whore.
Below, a screen from my favorite scene in the VN.

A lot of the content I cut was Delilah-centric. Originally she had a side story were she got addicted to some harder drugs after she initially left Kayleigh, learned some hard life lessons (involuntary manslaughter), a physical fight with Julie, a possible fling with another side character (who never materialized) that would've ended up committing suicide...just a lot of stuff that would've added some details to build her character so the player would understand why she ended up the way she did. There was never a chance she would've ended up in the harem, but I agree I should've edited things better to account for the cut content. But it is what it is right now. I'm glad you enjoyed it anyway! :)

If you plan on covering topics that hard in future games you should probably put warning tags in even if it's still under "future tags". Nailing people with that kind of content out of the blue will piss people off as bad as the three letter word that shall not be named because a lot of people don't wanna see that in a porn story.
Conversely those that do will be able to find your game easier and spread the word.

I did mention it previously, back when I started the project. Once I realized I was going to have to cut stuff out (which wasn't very long into the development) it became a moot point. Trust me, after the ending of bogo I learned my lesson about how the majority (not even sure it's a majority, just the LOUDEST) of players can't seem to handle certain fictional scenarios. Warning: coffee is hot!

Blaming the fans never goes over well buds and unless you can show me a scientific metric proving it was just some loud minority you're just stating your own biased opinion from a place of resentment or whatever.
You do pretty good work overall and it's great you have a story you want to tell but don't get butthurt if people don't like it.
Many folks aren't looking for some deep philosophical experience in their pornographic fiction and that's fine.
Me? If I was in the right mood might enjoy it but a lot of people don't want heavy topics when they are here to relax from the heaviness of real life.
It is what is.
Tags are still key though. Have a good one and thanks for the response.

EDIT: The loudest folks are usually the ones that love your work the most and that's why they care so much.

I harbor no resentment, nor am I 'butthurt' about my experiences as a dev, I'm only speaking from my interactions and exposure to the flak I received (mostly understandably so.)

If my initial reply seemed curt, it's because yours seemed condescending. So I'll end this conversation with a simple statement: I understand the purpose of tags and their importance to a lot of people.

Condescending? What? Yours came across as bitter and butthurt so I guess we both shouldn't make assumptions based on text lol. I do enjoy your work so thanks for the conversation!

I apologize, I didn't mean for it to come across that way. Honestly I'm just having a rough day and I might've been looking too deeply into it. I'm happy you enjoy my work and I feel a bit better having cleared that up. In any case, I appreciate the response ❤️

The main thing to consider about stuff like that is: What was the narrative purpose of Delilah's story? She's not the protagonist, so what bearing does her story have on the protagonist? What does he learn, or what does he gain, from having lost Delilah, and for what benefit or narrative purpose were the previous experiences with Delilah that seemed positive? Alternately, what purpose did Delilah abandoning the family serve? For most harem fans, the end goal is all the girls the MC likes together with him in the final harem, so in that sense it feels like a let-down to know that one of the primary girls was never intended to get that ending, because it cheapens every interaction the MC had with her, because without narrative intent behind those interactions, they are retroactively made to feel empty and meaningless at the end. I think that's where a lot of the disappointment people have expressed about the end comes from, along with Paisy's story with the MC mostly happening off-screen, shunting her off to secondary girl status at best.

Just finished, and I loved RC. I would have loved to see more content, and a smoother ending, but even as it is, I enjoyed it.
Re: the hoopla about Delilah... I guess I don't see it the way others do. It was certainly less than a "fairy tale" ending, but the twist helps make it different than other VNs, and variety is the spice of life. I mean, why else go for a harem, than variety.

Thank you for your great game. I love it very much and it's one of my favorite. Looking forward for new content
