This is just a guess:
That error looks simple, but most likely is a hint at the game being encrypted, in a way that Android can't handle. If that's the case, you likely have to decrypt the files on a PC first.

Dev made some custom async loader plugin, just disabled it and made a new plugin to tell rpgm to use the default loader.

Couldn't figure out text on custom menus, and haven't played the entire game, but dialogue/battle/gallery etc all seem to work fine.

Not in the way I implemented the fix, no. Plugins.js is unique to every game, and my fix requires replacing that file with a modified version of this games file, which would break any other game. 100% possible to make a universal fix, but wasn't worth the time or effort when this is the only game I've tried that has had this particular problem.
