1. RPGs, especially open world (Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed Odyssey/Valhalla)
2. Grand Strategy RPG (Pretty much any Paradox game - I have thousands of hours in Crusader Kings 2/3, Stellaris and Europa Universalis 4)
3. Sports (Football Manager, FIFA)
4. MMORPG (e.g. SWToR)
5. The Sims 1/2/3/4
More recently, I got trapped in factory/automation games. That really is th kind of game I never imagined I needed. Now, I'm trying to discover at least 2-3 new games each year, and there really are some gems.
Satisfactory and Factorio to start with obviously.
Shapez 2 is really nice too.
On a very minimalist and easy to discover, Beltmatic is nice too
Outside of that, I enjoy a lot roguelikes and rpgs.
