That almost never happens. Only ones I know of in the past 10+ years are the recent Our Island remake, Personal Assistant, and a few bad remakes of Big Brother, which all started over rather than pick up where the old one left off. For one without the .duf files thousands of those would have to be remade from scratch, and almost guaranteed things like character models won't look exactly the same. Add to that massive time pit the knowledge it takes (Daz, Python, Renpy details, etc) and most that know how simply make their own story/AVN if they have that sort of free time. Other than that the majority of people here to fap are not into sandboxes, probably at least in part why this was abandoned to begin with (it's harder both to code and to play 1-handed, immersion-breaking shit like grinding stats, repeat shit over and over, and having to think too much aside).
2 weeks, that was quick. Prob couldn't take the criticism, which were basically just 2 things easily fixed: slow text and sandboxes are mostly unpopular. Oh well, another one bites the dust.
