Many books do this tactic to get people more involved. Guess games do that too. Personally, I don't want to put myself into these kinds of situations as I'd never want to be. It's more interesting to me to follow the character through the game helping them make different choices to see outcomes.

When you can name you MC do you use your name or use the default name.
And for the other named characters do you uses crushes, people you know, name you like or keep the default

I've used many times a girl I know has a crush on me. She married so I turned her down when she was drunk and tried. But hey I'm imorral in the games

I like to rename the MC with my nickname but usually leave any others at the default.

9 times out of 10 I use the default unless it's something too out there or if it doesn't fit the vibe i get from the game

I always name the MC with my own name, and I keep the default names for the female characters.

I'll use whatever name pop up in my head first for mc and default for side. Unless if the default name is weird

I usually go for the default names unless they sound stupid to me, in that case I will just use a random name generator.

When i can name MC i don't use my name or the default but i choose other name. And for the other named characters i uses randomly names people i know

I use the same name for all my MCs but it's not my own. For LIs I usually use default or pick a random nice name that I think fits the character if I don't like the default or if there is none.

I use a variation of my name. I don't like self inserting too much. This is my compromise lol
