I always give the mc my real name unless I'm playing a netorare game which isn't very often then I use a random name and other characters I can name in the game I usually give them names of people I know personally.

When I played one of my first adult games, I gave the MC my IRL name and gave the main LI the name of a girl I used to love dearly when I was in uni.
So yes, I learned the hard way that this is soooo damn awkward.
Ever since I have been using a same fake name for the MC and the default ones fot the rest.

I only eve rename the mc, and I don’t use my name it’s weirdly too personal. Sometimes I like the game but I wouldn’t like it if I was in the game

Always use the same name for MC, but i don't mind game where you can't change it, i really don't see the point in renaming the LI characters though, using names of people you know? Idk i just find that awkward.

I don't really care about naming the MC, most of the time I hit Return and hope that the game has a default name set.

I ALWAYS rename the MC (if given the option) to Beef, and if they want a last name, Lumberyard. Beef Lumberyard. I don't know why, but the names given in the game always seem dumb or off so I just take it all the way, then I chuckle a bit and dive in.

If I can change the name of the MC I use the same first name for the MC in all the games I play. I leave the default names for all the other characters.

I always name the MC Alex and female MC Alice or Anna, unless it does not match the story like for instance everybody has a Japanese name, as for support characters I never name them, just the original ones are ok for me

For a while went with random male name. Until I settled on (what I thought) a stupidly/childish name which is now my go to name for all MC name's now.

First name: PuntMyCunt
Last name: Harder

All LI names are generally kept default.

Naming the MC helps with immersion, but there's nothing wrong with the MC having a fixed name.
