I used this code, even erasing my persistent file in order to do so, but the gallery remains locked.

Try a universal gallery unlocker.

This is a bug that affects a few players. No idea why. Renpy has Steam integration code by default. But this game has (obviously) no Steam integration.

Try turning off Steam and then starting the game.

If that doesn't work,
Try deleting the steamapi.pyc file in game/lib/py3windows64

Thanks for the feedback. Are you getting the same "Steam" error? If yes, I've created a script to explicitly disable Steam in the game. Copy this file and paste it in your game folder. This should at least eliminate the error that you posted. It might not solve the black screen issue.

If you still get the black screen, try an alternative renderer for the game. If you don't know how, follow these instructions.

Hover your cursor over the game .exe file. Press and hold the shift key. Double click the .exe file. This will open a menu screen.

You must be registered to see attachments

Choose Force GL2 or force Angle2. Then click Quit.

As a first step, apply the attachment below to disable Steam. If that doesn't help, try the alternative renderer.

I had this same black screen issue, and was able to bypass it by pressing F1 and selecting "Main Menu", apparently the intro video is somehow bugged.

Anyone, who has an unresolved black screen should try this.
When the black screen presents itself, press F1. If this works, like the comment. We've asked a coding pro to look at the issue.

You mean you didn't read the patch note where they said they retooled the game... retooling usually means old stuff won't work anymore... but instead of saying you didn't read the update notes means... the dev messed it up...

Isn't the gallery just a bunch of still images rather than the actual lewd scenes from the game? It honestly feels like a waste of time trying to fiddle with an unlocker because of that unless it's a simple copy and paste type of thing.
