VN Ren'Py VAM More Than A Daughter [2026.02] [Cinnamonbread]

It never ceases to amaze me how entitled and rude some people can get over the labour someone else puts in to entertain them FOR FREE.

I for one am eagerly anticipating the game, but I also know shit happens and people have lives outside of making my free entertainment, so I'll patiently wait a bit longer and thank Cinn when it's done.... you know, like a rationale and appreciative human being.
Worse yet, the constant complaining can take an emotional toll on devs and in some cases push them to abandon projects. I've seen it happen. Things are bad enough for devs now, we don't need to be making it worse.

Hey guys,
I could release the game today, but it would be rushed and unpolished.
I kindly ask for a little more time so we can poilsh it and make sure it meets my quality standards.
The release will be in a few days.

I’m sorry to disappoint you again 😔

Take your time, this is the opposite of disappointing for me at least, because I honestly thought this game was abandoned, so any news are good news.

The clear reason why I put a date out there was because I felt pressured.
People said the game is abdonded so I saw in my calender and picked a date far in the future which I thought is an easy
thing to do in that given time. But then over and over again I had to deal with IRL stuff like my own company and such.

Since most of you people don't know how it feels to publish a game and the preassure feeling and reading every comment etc.
you cannot feel what I felt like. So giving it a date to release the game feels good so it gets more real, so I force myself to do so.

I am not sure if it comes accross why I set a date but yeah its just bc people start asking and saying the game is abdonded.
Its not a real excuse but thats how I felt.... anyway for next release/update after chapter 3 we will do things total differently you will see.

Love Cinn :3

I just hope you take it easy man, I would hate to see that you actually abandon the game due to toxic people, that thing has happened many times before.

F*** all the haters. Most importantly, work calmly. I would like to see the amazing work of those smart guys 🤣

this is why every game thread needs a "shit talk" thread

dev gets real happenings within their game thread & ignores the shit talk thread, if user shit talks in game thread instant thread ban "problem solved"
legitimate bug or problems are mentioned (not bitched about)

this forum also needs a "No Spoiler Rule"

@elfieeven said in early 2025 that part 2 of PGI-257 was going to be out in the first quarter of 2025 (its still not out)
I've read some fucked up shit from members on many forums because they gave a date & never came through (which is fucked)
on every forum I've been on the dev has the right to ask a mod/admin to give a member a thread ban if they are an asshole
there are plenty of games out there where you get an update only when the dev makes that set amount for each update & most times that's 18 or more months

please remember "if it takes 20 minutes to move the garden hose, than it takes 20 minutes to move the garden hose"

Eh, while it sucks to wait... it's not like we've been strung along for over six years with months of excuses like lost backups, dead hard-drive, going blind, working on godot, I believe one time the laptop was allegedly lost internationally... but it's OK as that person won't take patreon money until they release the 0.4 version of the game that was almost done by late 2019. In fact that game is so abandoned that it isn't even here and can be gotte. Only in the other site. Not the 3 letter site, but the other one.

You've been here less than a month and want to start dictating what people can and can't say? This is after you repeatedly spammed several threads to boost your post count for your self-admitted farming of activity coin. How about you get get off your high horse and chill a bit.

Cinn made the mistake of picking a date and saying an update was going to occur on that date...without any real plan on making that happen. Then compounded that mistake by saying he needed a few more days and slid it forward four days. Then missed that day, and the same thing...again. That is what gets people riled up...with good reason. Honesty is always a better policy. Giving false dates (and false hope to fans) just ends up making people frustrated (devs and fans).

A better option is just keep plugging away when you can, tell people it's still being worked on. Avoid dates until you actually have something in hand that is ready to release. Ideally, have a work flow that breaks the big task down into smaller, more manageable pieces. That gives a dev some piece of mind of how much is done and how much is left to do, with the option of sharing that with their audience.

Bringing elfieeven into the discussion doesn't help your argument. Elfie is learning the hard way why having several VNs in production at the same time as a new dev is a really rough choice. Instead of learning how to successfully make one title, you potentially fail at making 3(+) titles.

no, they did not make a mistake. elfieeven was an other example of "how fucking shit some members can be over nothing"
oh & by the way an opinion or an idea is not dictating what others say.

i am not here to argue with people like you seem to enjoy so, I'll do whats best (in my opinion)

this is exactly what I meant when I said what I said.
because I for one do know exactly what it is to procrastinate because of performance pressure. I've been there and I see the same signs in what you've been doing: you make a new promise, you tell yourself that 'this time you can do it', but you still can't start it (most likely because you fear it brings all the negative things back to your mind). you ruminate all through the way and beat yourself up for the repeated failure, make up a reason to delay again, so that you can try again, because you're still telling yourself you can do it.
but the worst part is you're dragging other people to your darkness with your lies. each time you have to make up an excuse, more and more pople will get suspicious and angry. and the cycle repeats untill you've destroyed your reputation, your connections, and your work life. and each time it only gets harder for you to start. it's a vicious cycle.
if you think it's bad now, you have no idea how bad it can get for your mental health if you keep this up.

it took me years to get back up from all that and I lost alot of friendships permanently, and my family still has a weary attitude towards me. they still question if what I'm saying is true, which means they still don't fully trust me.

unless you come clean. that's your only way you can begin to mend yourself and what your lies have broken or damaged.
you fear that people would be dissapointed and abandon you and your game. that's not going to happen. when you come clean, people will understand, because it's the truth. and you'll feel much better for doing it. I guarantee you that.
coming clean was how I began healing and fixing things.

your choice. but I hope you understand where what I said was coming from, now. and I hope this opens your eyes.

for the rest of you lot, doesn't it say something when one short comment sparks this much discourse?
aren't you misinterpreting things a bit too far? you see what you want to see and you feel you must protect someone you don't even personally know!

I think all of you should ask yourselves now (including cinn): was it worth it? what did you acchieve? did you actually help or make things worse?

bye.

please remind me to invite you to my next party
its the holidays, they should have never said "I'll do my best to take time away from my family to appease the masses that get my content for free."

Man, you love projecting. I'm not asking Cinn to appease anybody. I'm just saying, be honest with yourself. If there's really no guarantee of a future update just don't go around telling people to wait for 4 more days. I wouldn't mind paying a subscription but if I have to wait over a year for the possibility of a small update then I'd rather not subscribe at all, lol. I am subscribed to consistent devs; people who know how to manage their time and subscribers' expectations.

best "the devil made me do it" ive heard in some time.

im actually not bothered by the content taking longer or this long. many project big and small take a year or more, many take less. all comes down to the team and their ability(hardware and creative).

but blaming commentors for ones choices is such a cop out. seriously, negative commentors can be straight up assholes, some appear to have only one goal of shitting on other people for no sane reason. this is not news, to anyone on the internet.

im not gonna offer advice like, oh ignore them and blah blah blah. nope, im gonna be an ass and assume dev and everyone else on this adult forum is an adult and treat you like adults capable of thinking for themselves. grow up and think for yourself.

good luck, and those of us who enjoy this story will be around when the update does come, regardless.

Most of the time a hotfix is released a day or two after an update is released, so delaying to give more polish isn't all that different from waiting for a stable build in my opinion. In regards to missing deadlines if giving yourself a release date helps you with development then that's fine and you can still do so just with a slight change in language. I know there are a lot of people who complain or get angry over continued delays but remember that there are always more supporters and lurkers who are okay with waiting so long as there is good communication.

One thing you might consider is instead of having release dates (IE: the update will come out on X date) you could instead simply have check in dates. Checking the thread every day to see if the dev has made any comments or to see if anyone has shared any supporter only news only to see nothing can make a game seem abandoned. But saying that the game will be released on a specific day can make people angry when it is pushed back and is also unrealistic as estimating how much time you need to finish something that isn't your regular job or only responsibility in life is difficult and often inaccurate. That's why I personally feel like it's better to instead of saying the update will release on X date, you'll instead make a comment on X date about your progress. When that date comes around you simply say, "I estimate the update to be around maybe 80-85% percent complete. Come back on X date and I'll share my progress again." This keeps people in the loop while also making sure you aren't making unrealistic promises. We don't have to check in everyday to make sure we don't miss an update or notice of delay, nor do we get our hopes up and risk disappointment. There's always going to be people that are mad that an update hasn't come out but many of us just want to make sure the game isn't abandoned. So long as it's still being worked on and there is clear and constant communication about progress that is being made then the lack of updates can be usually overlooked by a decent number of people. It's really just when there is no communication or the only communication is just "We're working on it" with no additional information such as estimates of completion percentage or saying it's going to be another few months rather than weeks. When it gets to that point then people start to question whether or not it is being worked on. This is why a lot devs release monthly progress reports.

But this is just what I think. As you've said you're going to do chapter 3 differently so I'm sure you've already come up with ways to do this better on your own. Just remember that while we can't know what it's like to be a dev we can tell you what it's like for us. And for me at least, simply seeing recent comments from you showing that you are still here and active assures me more than anything else that the game is not abandoned. And these comments don't need to include hard-set release dates that are always going to be inaccurate as you cannot predict how much time you'll have each day to devote to this. Just keeping us in the loop on progress that's being made is really the most you need to do. If you have a hard time posting a comment because you're stressed about people reacting negatively just remember, for every handful of people who get mad at you there is another handful of people that will come on, see the comment you made, and just say "Okay I'll check back in a few days" and think nothing else of it.

Who cares. There's still 20min left of 2025. Even then, there's still 2026.

Happy new year everyone :)
they wrote a song about that

new linktree link or moe link or is my country at war with moe too?

I would just like to reiterate that for the most part these devs are doing this FOR FREE. Even with stuff like SubscribeStar you're payng for enhanced access to what already exists, or tipping as appreciation. These people don't work for you. If they give you a target date it's an ESTIMATE, of how long they expect things to take, without knowing what might come up, or even if their priorities might change. you aren't owed strict adherence to it. In fact, you aren't owed a fucking thing. A dev could simply lose interest in a project and never finish it, and that's 100% within their rights.

Or, ya know, they could abandon a game (or the hobby all together) because they're sick of feeling pressured and berated by people who take and take and give nothing back. You could, at this very moment, be adding to the very problem you're so offended by. But by all means, keep creating a hostile environment for devs and making the process less enjoyable for them - I'm sure that will get you what you want.

I apologize for these guys, Cinn. Rest assured most of us love and appreciate your work, and will be excited to check it out WHEN YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE RELEASING IT.

Or, here's a crazy idea, people could remember these are people volunteering their time to entertain us unpaid, in addition to whatever else they have going on in their lives, and take those dates as what they are - estimates. If it's not done by then, it's not done by then. What are you gonna do, fire them?

Seriously, some people need to get their priorities in check and learn to cope better with uncertainty in their FREE ENTERTAINMENT. The last thing we need is for these spaces to become so toxic that we drive more devs away from making these games.

i wouldn't give a date to these impatient people... You can give us like a % done or something and update that on the main page.. so once a week u can update it. To let everyone know its progressing. If anything just posting something letting people know its being worked on is enough for me.. :) Keep up the good work and will wait for as long needed to play the update :)

just reading the rules & it says every time someone bitches about a delayed update that update will be further delayed for 24 hours.

so, update will now be out sometime mid summer 2027
by site rules it will get toe-tagged by then, as 18 months will be up just ~3 months from now. Sadly his site in the OP doesn't seem to work either (prob Collective Karen snitched to his host, this is why self-hosting via TOR is rather popular for selling shit no one else with a stick up their ass likes).
