Even the PC I'm on now has 16GB and it was built 13 years ago. Unless Taiwan gets invaded by China or gets hit by a typoon memory is cheap these days. My work PC built 2 years ago has 64GB DDR5 and I felt like I was being a tightwad (at least that part isn't watercooled so is easy to upgrade if pop-up errors start becoming annoying). 8GB is prob one stick (DDR3 was 4GB sticks sometimes, so unless your PC is really old like this one...) so wouldn't be hard to simply drop another 8GB stick in, as I know of no motherboard that only has 1 memory slot.
