Is Die Hard a Christmas movie

Not in the same way as one where it's the main theme, but still. I again don't understand why sooo many movies (not with it as the theme) take place at Xmas...

real question is. what do you think about all the other die hard movies?
IIRC they didn't take place at Xmas. Been a while since I seen one.

There is no christmas without die hard for me. So definetly yes

Everyone knows Die Hard is a Christmas movie. Even the people who are in denial know this is true inside their heart of hearts.

it most definitely is, it takes place at a christmas party so it totally counts

Yes, it gets played more at Christmas time.

Ho Ho Ho -- now I have a machine gun

John McClane is pretty much Santa, handing out gifts of sweet death (and even reuniting brothers!) and saving the day with the power of Christmas. He's jolly all throughout the movie, even sharing a laugh with the villain at the very end. How can it be anything but a Christmas movie?

Yes and no. Take place during Christmas but it's not the main theme of it.

I'm with bomb just because it happens during Christmas dose not make it a Christmas movie.

"Die Hard is a Christmas Movie" Is a contrarian meme. We recognize it is obviously not a Christmas movie, but we can feel clever by arguing that it is.

to me if it doesn't incorporate a Christmas plot then no, if it take place during Christmas thats not really enough.

It is a Christmas movie for a good reason. It's not a case of a movie in which things happens and it's also Christmas, everything happens the way it happens because it's Christmas. The employees are only in the building because they're at a Christmas party and John probably wouldn't even be in LA if it wasn't Christmas, or at the very least he wouldn't be in the building. Christmas is part of the story that you can't remove from the movie without completely changing the story, so it's a Christmas movie.
Of all the unbelievable elements in the movie, the fact that every employee shows up for a Christmas Eve company party is one of the funniest.

No way would I stay at work until that late, especially for a party with coworkers that I probably would not even like.

If it is set in Christmas, it's a christmas movie, like it or not
