discussion How important is an engaging storyline to you?

Most would say graphics as all they care about is the assets and sex scenes. What they don't realize is the story enhances almost every game.

Problem is 85% of these games feel like their written by a grade-schooler or AI translated into English.

I would say principle 70% to 30% where 70% - it's good decent graphics(renders and animation ofc) 30% story where not just story - but at least good start of situation or conflict.
Great Example AVN "Adriana Pervert Diary" - game not just typical story - but with passion - and how much she wanna corrupt her lovely juice(female character) wish she desire to get

I'm pretty close to 50/50 on this. A bad story can ruin great graphics by twisting your brain off. And bad, or lazy, graphics can take a great story and make it boring.

For bad stories I watch porn, and for bad graphics I read books. No grinding in either.

For me story matters far more than graphics. I was reading stories with just text on asstr.org for many years before getting into AVNs so I'm used to not having any pictures.

The story doesn't have to be complex, if the graphics are great, the story can be simple. To much text can make me lose interest, but to little story, just sex scene after sex scene makes me lose the game feeling aswell.

Story edges out graphics by a bit. Even when I've enjoyed the graphics of a VN, I'll drop it if the story just isn't good, if the translation is awful, or if the MC is an awful character.

Story/concepts/text/flow for sure. Inf general real life or porn can have very good visuals but I play games for what draws me in, not just the images. Does not mean I cannot appreciate visual arts, but usually you end up with moderately good graphics and bad text versus less good graphics and good text, and I prefer the latter.
