On f_95, I search by tags loli ,shota, incest. On this site, I just entered the category of prohibited games. Almost all games in this category are good. It was as if the admins had selected the games specifically for me and put them in a separate category.
I just check recommendation threads (search that subforum for a tag you want), check latest updates every so often, and do a more specific tag search if you still aren't finding anything. I have a big backlog of bookmarked games and a bit of a variety downloaded at all times.
I just think of a tag I'm in the mood for and look for it, that's what I used to do on the other site. And more or less what I do here buttttt some of the tags are locked away so gotta work to get those lol
This is difficult because there's a lot to play and reviews and ratings aren't usually very helpful, so I try to do my part by trying out different games and giving objective reviews so others can get a better idea of what they'll find in the game.
I go to latest updates, exclude unwanted tags, and in the other website ill also change it to sort by name, then ill take the total number of pages, put it in to an rng system, then ill peruse the resulting page number.
Everything is very simple. Every morning and evening I look through the update catalog (on_95 and on two other sites). I am guided by the reviews published on these sites. Large texts that describe in detail both the advantages and disadvantages of the games in question. If the reviews are mostly positive, then I download the game and try to start playing it. 30-45 minutes is enough to make a conclusion whether I like this game or not.
Over the years, using this method, I have made mistakes only twice. These are the very popular Summertime Saga and Grandma's House. I didn't like them for my own personal reasons. But in general, this method works. I've only been here for a little over a month, but I got the impression that the Latest Updates section on this site just doesn't work, alas. But there is a great forum here.
On here? I look at the "latest games" and check out each one as it appears (I do occasionally go into Games/Games+ and sort by first post), if it looks interesting, I'll bookmark it with a "new" label (kinda using it like a wishlist), then when I'm ready for a new game, I'll grab a random one from that bookmark list.
On mainstream platforms, I use the "Surprise me" button in the GOG Galaxy client to slowly work through my backlog of games.
