How Dark do you like your story?

i think one of the best stories with a dark theme, is Leap of faith, I consider suicide to be a very dark theme, but the story really invokes emotions, its sad, yet dark, yet, you care for the characters

Depends on context and the strength of the writing. Dark themes being used in a story for the sake of shock value is something anyone can do. But to write a good engaging story with proper pacing and utilisation of dark themes is greatly appreciated, even if it's a genre I'm not "okay" with.

dont really prefer dark stories but if the story and characters are good i stick with it like corruption stories more

if it's really dark it doesn't turn me away, but i prefer something without violence

If they're gonna be dark, they need to have a good reason. Admittedly, sometimes gore/violence/rape for the sake of gore/violence/rape is the point, but usually I prefer to have some kind of plot to go along with it.

I don’t like dark stories, man. Too edgy for my taste.

The only exception is a power-fantasy revenge story, and even then, the person I’m taking revenge on shouldn’t be dead, just wronged.

My guilty pleasure? Stories where the MC already has a successful startup but wants to get mega rich.

Chasing a goal without struggling, you feel me?

Life is harsh enough. I don’t need realism in my porn.

Honestly not very.
I like when there's drama but dark usually leans toward some uncomfortable things for me. I like when everyone is having a good time.

Feels like a total cop out to put this in words, but I like darker concepts (rape, sex slave, mind control, etc) when the story shows that the victim is "into it". Sort of a "consenting nonconsent", except in fiction where safe words aren't needed because everyone is fictional and you can just say that she's a masochist and actually likes it.

Conversely, nothing is a bigger turn off than the story specifically stating that the "victim" is really suffering. I like to think I'm not an asshole IRL, which is why the taboo of being one in fiction is exciting, but there are lines I don't cross even in fantasy.
