How Dark do you like your story?

I don't mind any level of darkness as long as the story is told well. Sometimes it can be really corny.

the more choices the better, as many options and freedom as possible

I'd say the dark path of corrupted love is about my ideal level of darkness. While I enjoy some of BHG's stories I don't have a big enough anal fetish to fully enjoy them

As light as the average AVN model ;)

Does the darkness serve a purpose or is it gratuitous?
Is it a consequence of the main character's choices or simply inflicted with no recourse or mitigation?
Is it measured or excessive and fetishistic?
Is there a point to all of that, or is the author just being a sadist?
Is the darkness overcome, or is the author just peddling misery?

somewhat dark *at times* is fine as long as its the main character causing it. but I hate when things like rape (done by someone other than the mc, though even when it is the MC I really don't care for it too much unless its generic somnophilia)/death happen to the love interests and find it inexcusable regardless of context (looking at you acting lessons) even if its past tense to the story itself. I'm a sucker for happy endings.

Whel when i goo for darkness in a game i realy like it do gett realy dark. Not a litel dark begning or a pat that ends in happy ever after and evrybode realy loved it.

I like to have the option to be nice if i think a character deserves it.

I can go very dark because that's how my fetishes lean, but there are level of 'dark' where it's just kind of dumb. Maybe that's just bad writing though.

The guy that makes games about the deluca family and such, his games are just like... pointlessly grim? Introduce waifu, waifu gets shot in the head 5 minutes later.

Just in story telling terms. killing off a character can establish stakes or create drama, but if you kill everyone? You're back no stakes because who is going to bother giving shit about Chick #17 who is going to b dead 5 seconds after you bang her? (just like the previous 16)

Maybe I'm misreading and it's a snuff thing.

I prefer to play lighter stories. I have however, enjoyed some stories with darker themes. I find it depends on why it's dark, if it's "dark" only because it can be then I consider it to be bad writing and will normally drop it.

If there is darkness in a game, I want to be on the opposing side. Hillside is one of my favorite games for example of what I mean. Corruption is fine, as long as it's not violent; and sadistic games are just mined for data to see if there is anything worth seeing in the pictures and if the script can be edited enough to be playable.

Its fine as long as the story is good enough.

dark is not my cup of tea deff prefer something that makes me happy the worlds already fucked up.

Dark stories mixed with fantasy to push the game/story/events as far away from reality as possible. Good escapism if its a little bit separated from real life.

I haven't played a game yet with a "realistic" bad guy. It always seems to me more cartoonisly evil - I don't know what I'm missing but I'd love to see a real type of darkness.

I enjoy games with Dark themes, one of my favorites with dark themes is Blackheart Hotel, its really amazing, with themes of murder, non-consent, and the story is interesting about a guy with amnesia who is part of the mob
