Not a big fan of holidays, but if I had to choose I'd say Halloween.

Halloween, every time. The costumes and set designs can be way more creative. There's a huge shortage of cute goth girls and that's when they seem to come out the most

Does anyone here hate them like me? Anytime I see a holiday update I get pissed. They are an excuse for the dev to take a break from the main game.
And because I know they were working on the shitty holiday crap I also know the main game is delayed.
Yes, I know there are a few exceptions to this but 90% is to reuse assets and ship a crap update.

I mean, the devs can do what they like, it's their life. I'm not gonna rage at them for making people fuck in santa hats.

But they don't interest me.

I dont like them. They often mix characters that havent met or interacted yet. They feel forced. They usually come as a dev burns out, cannot thinkg of anything because they didnt start their project with a proper outline, or they're transitioning to the milking of their content.

Never seen a good outcome from one.

The main problem with holiday content for me is that it often feels like it's something the dev is doing so they don't have to work on their main story content while making it look like they're adding content to their game... There's also the fact that most of the time the holiday content is really boring and generic as well.

I'm honestly not a fan of them.
I'd rather see these events implemented in the actual story if possible without non canon scenes.. It can be a bit hard though when you have games that have been under development for years while the story itself is just about a month in summer.

Agree. Not even slightly interested. Rather have them work on the real game. Not only that, they often come out after the holiday is over. They tend to also be silly.

I think some can be pretty fun. Because they're shorter you at least get to the more fun scenes quicker

Something to consider, one holiday update did not necessarily come at the loss of one regular update.

One thing that slows writing is making sure that what you are writing fits with what you have written before (tonally, character wise, and factually). If you can throw all that out and just have an excuse for your models to get naked you can do that a lot faster

If it's not part of the story, then I don't care.

And I also don't like them because. It's an excuse for lazy sex scenes with no build up. Then after that back to the main update where all of this doesn't matter.

Maybe so but they are made to drive up pledges and as a gift to their supporters.

I've played a few good ones and a few bad ones.

No one has to like them but they serve a purpose.

It depends on the specials, there are some that are very good.
I think it's worse when the developer drags the story by adding random characters that will later be forgotten.

FET and Proud Father Halloween special was pretty good. I don't think its a problem. I think the bigger problem is when they post exclusive renders on Patreon and think it's making up for the delay in the update.

Exactly, it not only takes you out of the story currently being told, but often isn't even a real part of the story. I've seen a few framed as some sort of bizarre fever dream.
