Most renpy games can be decompiled and then you could switch it on again
I have somewhere a piece of renpy code (if I can still find it) that you can just drop the game folder and it makes the textbox transparent.

I can't stand games without sound. Even with good animation, it can be very boring.

games that make you travel from one side of the map to the other without a fast travel button because it makes the game "realistic" despite the fact that the game has magic, or is over 1000 years into the past or the future, or has walking-talking-furries

Games that the devs tries to make it unique using engines aside from Ren'Py or customizing the text box or settings that are native QoL features. Having to play games that don't let you skip transitions, have text slowly appear, make the dialogue hard to read, block rollback or anything like that is a pain in the ass.

In addition to RPGM, I'd also mention UE. Games on this engine are often very poorly optimized and eat up a lot of resources even on a top-end computer. I doubt that people will spend money on an upgrade for the sake of some amateur game.

Disregarding that I now can recognize template characters (I played a lot, yes)
I got annoyed the most by one of the most controversial games (I will called it "RR") because it started against a "certain aspect" then immediately went on in support of the same aspect.
I still play it in hopes dev set the storyline back on track somehow.
