There are great ideas for games like Glassix or the one where you can import your own town map which name I forgot. But they are often so complicated that it does not remain fun.

Depends on the size of the game. If it took me a long time to download, then I probably won't delete it.

Mostly prefer VNs as well, but that is mostly due to how bad some of the sandbox game mechanics have been (eg not being able to do anything before earning money and then having to spend multiple game days to earn enough to slowly progress a storyline, only being able to do a certain thing on a specific day/time period and then finding out there are several options due at the same time and having to choose one knowing you are going to have to progress through a whole week in game again to get to next event, especially if there is nothing else to do in game between this etc, etc the bad mechanics list is endless). If the grind is not too bad and the reward is decent I would be happy enough but can't count how many games I have wasted time on before quitting through frustration. I agree with what A.K.A78 said previously

Devs that make sandbox shit can't write, that is why they make that crap.
They have a story plot/idea of 10 minutes of game play and stretch that out into HOURS.
That does not make it into a sandbox vn game, that makes them into horrible sadistic people.

and would agree that just because you have a good idea for a story, does not mean it is a good idea for a game, which takes me back to why I prefer VNs (with a good story).
