I would 2nd Straitened Times and A Family Venture as there is quite a lot of content between the two of them. Straightened Times is updated more frequently, although it's not always to add more content.

RPGM games tend to be just grindfests

Yeah I generally don't play RPGM games too unless the game is really really good. Just walking running mindlessly to objectives is tiring, boring and time consuming.

Most of those games feel lifeless. If its just a text based game I don't mind as much but I still prefer original art.
