Probably not, these games are just to sell a fantasy. Devs dont see a reason to write jealousy when you can say all the girls are ok with it.

It might be hard for a lot of cultures to understand harems, but historically harems existed for a long time. Strongest males get the most women kind of thing. What keeps/kept the women there? Probably safety and security, although many harems existed under the threat of harm too.


In the cases of a harem built by threats, I don't see the women being too enthusiastic, but maybe.


I don't know if this qualifies as harem exactly, but Genghis Khan is an ancestor of a huge number of people alive today.

I remember in Jade Empire (back when Bioware could actually write a decent world) it was possible to romance both female LIs, but only if you passed progressively harder Persuasion checks whenever they demanded you choose between them

Pretty much this. I think that making the effort to really get into that aspect of "keeping" a harem would just get in the way of whatever overarching story a game was intended to have.

One would think that it's not that easy to write, especially if branching in-game choices are involved. Assuming that the point of the story is to go into that aspect of harems, I think that it'd make for a very difficult endeavor without resorting to much more straightforward "pick one", "pick all", or "pick none" paths.

What do you mean by "well"? As in realistic, or girls all end up in MC's harem? Imho the only bad handling is when plot armor is so thick, that you can do whatever and girls don't care.

I've always wanted to play a game where you have a lot of control over women. I want to play as an authority figure over a group of young women and you're a disciplinarian.
Maybe you're a father of 3 girls. Your wife accused you of domestic abuse and you've been away from your girls who have been raised by their crazy mother. Now it's been revealed that your wife lied about the domestic abuse and she's out of the picture. You've returned to live with your daughters and undo the damage your wife did. But now your daughters are unruly teenagers who are disrespectful and undisciplined. So your job is to be a stern, loving father and discipline your daughters when they misbehave.
Or you're put in charge of an all girls halfway house. You live in a house, and young girls move in when they get out of juvie and you help rehabilitate them. The girls misbehave and you discipline them with creative punishments.

In either scenario, you can ground the women from their clothes. You make them take off their panties in front of you and give them to you. They get their panties back at the end of the day, but if they misbehave again in the same day, you take their bra, then their shorts, ect. until they're naked. You also give them full body searches to make sure they're not bringing in drugs. If they get caught with drugs, they lose their privacy; you have to be within eyesight of them at all times; when they go to the bathroom, take showers, and change. You do surprise room checks to make sure that the girls are behaving. If the girls get in a physical fight, they have to strip in front of you and pose for pictures that you post in the house. If the girls do something really bad, the whole house loses panty privileges. You can demand they prove that they are complying with the "no panties" rule at any time.

What are some other ways to get some nudity/sex out of either of these scenarios?

It's a pretty big time investment but I definitely think it's worth it. From Software is one of the few developers that has been getting better and better with each game they release.

Right now playing "Chrono Ark", a cute deck-building card game which is pretty hardcore.

The harems of video games are very different from actual, historical harems though. The latter are more comparable to women with the same employer, or different families that just live and work in the same area. I don't think the dynamics of real-life harems are that useful when writing about sex-fantasy harems, where the characters are drawn to each others by passion, not as career moves. The games I've played that have incorporated traditional harems have just combined that with the passion-without-jealousy mode of harem games.

I'm thinking of how you could make a game work where the girls are jealous and the jealousy is never fully overcome. They just find ways to live with it and let it cause as little damage as possible. I'd like to think it could add flavour and depth, but maybe it would just get annoying, and that's why it isn't used.

I just mean that it works and doesn't make the game bad. Could be some kind of realism, or could be unrealistic but in an attractive way.

I bought the whole yakuza series on sales (around 20 bucks) including the Like a Dragon and i feel it was the best decision i made this year
