But this is definitely not one of those cases, for the simple fact that Gadgeteer participates in the thread, and gives information, and that's enough for me, then it could make us wait even a few months.

There are other devs, who like this one have created their own thread, where others are not allowed to update, and they never show up even to say hello.

Sometimes I wonder if patience still even exists anymore. I know of no AVN here that has no eventual public/free version and it won't kill anyone for them to wait an extra month or whatever if they can't afford to sub to get it early. Personally I just stay busy with something else and then it doesn't even feel like waiting. Just don't keep the next update in the front of your mind like it's nearing xmas or something.

The dev participating in the thread is definitely a nice bonus but in general I think it's really dumb to leak updates if the devs have public releases.

well there are some titles i found in 95 that has like very long wait time... usually that kind of games is the one where it use delayed version not delayed time, which can be very long because well... development of game is long and hard... and the worst (in my personal opinion) is keeping 3 or more version behind which mean it is up to 2, 3 or even worse more months between paid version and public version and not to forget massive difference in version between newest and free/public

In those cases (1-3 versions behind for public) I just forget about it and do something else until completed in 3-10 years, though most of the time it will be abandoned before that point anyway due to leaking (few things are more annoying to me than a story that is never finished, if it was good enough to care about in the first place). In general if updates are a year apart I forget the AVN even exists, nevermind what the characters were doing.

You're right, it is dumb. Really dumb. Good VNs are hard to find as it is, and it will be even harder if we alienate them or make it tough for them to earn a living.
