I’d personally have to say that Hereditary is one of my favorites.

Although I’m not a big gore or brutality guy.
I’m far more interested in psychological horror and suspense.

But I do like Evil Dead 2012 so it’s not like I won’t watch bloody stuff.

For the best horror movie, it's everything from the Conjuring Universe. These are my all time favorite movies and I cannot wait for Last Rites to come out!! A solid recommendation is Oculus very enjoyable movie.

I haven't seen that many but I do like the Shining. I saw Heretic recently and liked the setup but I didn't find the payoff compelling
