CClearner for getting rid of all those pesky temp files that build up over time. I think of it as a routine health check for your comp.
I don't see the necesity of using ccleaner when windows has a built-in cleanup function, also most people on internet dislike ccleaner idk why but they do.

Opera is Chinese spyware... but you do you... :kek:
kinda, most of the browsers are spyware with only some exceptions and everything you do on the internet logged in an account can be also traced but I prefer to use opera browser because is the spyware/browser with more useful functions and additions compared with other browsers that just add things without thinking if they are including this because is a quality of life update or if it is just because more is better

I would recommend you treesize, very useful to check the space on your computer with a fast scan and a visual representation of all your storage

Opera is just a shitty chrome fork.... that sends your data to China... it has nothing that other browser can't do.
Even other chromium based browsers like are better.
I recommend Brave or Vivaldi. Both are far superior and way less bloated.

WizTree is better.

press 'e' to pick the circle/ellipsis tool and then click "stroke selection" and fiddle with any options about how you want the line it draws to be.

I've just used gimp for a long time as I've been on linux for years. there's no reason if you're already familiar with photoshop.

also, telling a game pirating previewing forum to use a free tool over an expensive one is funny

Pretty sure Photoshop is a free tool for many people...

for browser I've been loving Opera GX but this thread is wonderful and now I'll be going through more of my system to clear bloat
China owned, don't trust it

Little question for the anti-china fraction: Why?
China isnt fond of sharing information/data with anyone, not even with their own people. USA and EU on the other hand share intel with judicial authorities and advertisers.
Sure, propaganda and reality define china as bad, but i prefer my data locked away by some gov that gives a shit about my downloads then getting mails from lawyers who think i should pay for stuff like windows...

Not saying EU/USA are angels, but the operate within laws, and if they break them, there are concequenses.. Chine can/will use information to whatever they like, they impose censorship on their own ppl(yes I know USA ban tick tok) no one can chang their minds, or make them "play by the rules".. EU/USA has it's faults, but still a democracy(at least untill Donald Duck, ehhh Trump gets power again)..

Sure, but why should i care what china does with my data? Even if they would use my personal preferences to influence their production and AD, we would never know about it, but they will be overjoyed to see all the american companies never getting a single cent from me. Thats my point, USA and EU are dangerous for everyone who uses the internet without wasting money. People IN china are not free and if THEIR data end with chinese govs they are at risk of losing even more freedom, but WE have more freedom if our private data end up there, instead of USA/EU because THEY use our laws against us. Sure, if you waste your money to buy everything and behave like a loyal lemming citizen you are save too, but who the fuck has the money to pay for everything and who is stupid enough to believe the bullshit all of our govs spread? But hey, if you prefer getting flagged by a gov who can destroy your life instead of letting irrelevant data collect dust in a country that does nothing about it until it conquers your country, thats up to you, but i'm more worried about our data collectors then chinese ones.

This. At this point, every major company that deals with these type of information must have some data on me already, so I don't even care. If it's not a malware like some fucking Baidu popups and forced homescreen, fuck it.

Firefox

add adblock to firefox, and discord also i guess

I had quite a long list of what I needed for my daily tasks, but after my last install I've decided to just save the image of my drive and in case I need to reinstall I just need to recover that image with everything installed and suffer through a few updates

I usually go to "Ninite" I recommend libre office (open source office programs), Foxit reader (non-adobe pdf reader), and VLC (open source media player)
Surprised that more people haven't mentioned ninite tbh, good shout, its a handy way of getting all your regularly used software installed quickly and easily
Basic first things I install on a new build are
Firefox
Irfanview (again surprised it hasn't been mentioned already)
VLC
7zip
Bleachbit

After that it'll really depend on what i want to use the machine for as to what gets installed.
Game launchers etc on gaming rigs
Nothing on laptops because i buy cheap shitty latops that i only use for reading or watching youtube
Nothing personal at all on work machines

op, dont use u-torrent if u really want to then use one of the older version (cant remember the exact version number)
instead use deluge or qbittorrent
I'll second this. qBittorrent is great. Almost all the other torrent clients are filled with bloat and adds these days.

does anyone knows a free and secure program to recover deleted files?

Wallpaper Engine (via steam)

It does cost money but its real cheap and absolutely worth it.

Pros:
- Sick high quality backgrounds that can be animated
- Well established, searchable, steam workshop of wallpapers (sfw and nsfw)
- Good management of wallpapers
- Has a (free) mobile app to apply wallpapers from pc to phone
- Includes tools to make your own wallpapers if inclined
- Per monitor profiles for applying playists of wallpapers
- Lots more things

Cons:
- Anything more complicated than getting wallpapers and applying them has a learning curve
- Can be resource intensive, but that mostly comes from the wallpapers you use and can be tuned (particularly on mobile if you use anything animated)
- There's more, but I'm confident the pros vastly outweigh the cons

You can do some crazy stuff with it, but just basic wallpaper management is excellent.
