A tool is only effective if used correctly. There're a lot of stupid people in the world, dumb enough to get caught by leaving a trail. Switching to just "crypto" isn't enough, transactions can be traced on the blockchain of most of them. A shadow payment processor would need to use a currency with privacy and encryption built in, like Monero (XMR). That'd keep the identities of the dev and supporters private, including from each other. Even knowing the wallet address the dev set up to take payments wouldn't be traceable to the dev's main wallet. The potential for a bright lewd future is there, we just need some enterprising perverts to build it. Individual devs could do it on their own if they don't mind a little extra administrative work.
