Guess only follow-up questions would be,

Where are you downloading from (mega, pixel, etc.)?

Do you have sufficient bandwidth?

Are you using a VPN?

Do you have space where you're downloading said content?

Apart from the slowness that most download servers have and the limitations, this is normal.
Mega has a limit of 1.5G for my country
Best servers for me brazil PIXELDRAIN and GOFILE

Well Mega and Pixeldrain has a cap on how much free users can download.

Other problems might be your ISP capping/throttling downloads.

I had a similar problem with downloading porn vids from some sites, it was only about 1.1gb and suddenly stopped, vpns didn't help, it seemed server issue. Try other sites/sources/storage hosts..

upd. to me gofile is a hellish nightmare, it's slow af and won't allow to finish downloads

In the near past Mega and Pixeldrain would slowdown the download at there high speed number cutoff but in most cases it would finish with a possible resume or two. Gofile the same. Now I can not download anything from any server above 4b stops at exactly at 4,194,288 b every time. Have not found a 4g+ file to try from a non porn server.
In some cases I can not even pause or delete for a few minutes. When resumed it just times out. No VPN. Might be my ISP capping - throttling downloads. a-t-t
Never had this problem till late May. Sometimes I would have to try a few times but always downloaded completely

Try using a download manager like MegaBasterd, if the problem is Mega, or Jdownloader2 to resume the downloads.

It works fine here as long as I don't go past the daily limit.
I normally go for GoFile anyway since it's very fast and has no limit.
Have you tried downloading the same file with something like your phone?

probably some limit on the server you download from, a variation in the download speed can cause the download to break and some servers cannot continue it

You can try with a download manager (Jdownloader2 for example) instead of Firefox. In the worst case where it doesn't solve your problem, you should be able to download with the ability to resume of Jdownloader2.

OK Thanks for input. I know its not exactly a tech support forum. Will check for fat 32 but I don't think it is unless I've had a unknown disk format LOL. As I said they all worked fine until weeks ago. Gofile and Workupload having huge downloads. Pixeldrain and Mega always have daily limits but I believe they was higher than 4g at one point. I have 32g of ram. Might have something to do with the 4,194,288 b cut off point maybe. Able to pause and resume anytime till the 4,194,288 b mark.

Doubble check where your downloads folder goes, and check the formatting on that drive. But yeah probably not that then.

To Isolate:
Try with another browser

and if you can access an external drive, try to copy a file larger than 4gb to the external drive(exFat or another format that supports 4gb +), and then back to the same drive you have your downloads folder in.

Thanks all that commented. Helpful suggestions. I believe I fixed the issue. Good thing, I hate compressed versions

Try using a download manager like MegaBasterd, if the problem is Mega, or Jdownloader2 to resume the downloads.
If you use MegaBasterd it's easy to look up a list of proxies and just paste them in the settings to bypass the daily download limit.

There are programs that allow you to convert FAT32 to NTFS without data loss (although it is better to backup the most valuable data). You can use AOMEI FAT32 to NTFS Converter (it's freeware) or EaseUS Partition Master (there is a trial version).
