After getting to know the NSFW gaming community, I realized that a lot of people are really invested in these games, and while I can see the artistic and sometimes philosophical value in some, I see these games primarily as a way to "release stress", so I became interested in knowing how the "community" in general views these games

Why not? The Girls, The Girls and The GIRLS. Sometimes the storyline is ok but I find myself skipping through most stories because their trash. I want the Porn and the girls. On occasion the Story is actually pretty decent and ensnares you. Sisterly Lust. The game where you play as the Dragon. 4k Games developer or someone. 4k Warning. (Ravager) The Twin thieves are funny when you read their conversations and help with setting up fetishes. Midnight Paradise story's ok. Telling your father to F Off when he tries to take your car keys.

It is the WORST when all those devs out there would start making porn games with serious intention. I mean, it has started already. Paywalled bullshit, no go zones in terms of kinks (loli... the reason why you all are here, perverts), advertising in Gaming, full price... the list goes on.

When seriousness aka money is involved, the creative spirit dies. Make the games you wanna make, get a bit of recognition (a bit can be a still a lot money) and do it because you are passionate about it and not because it's a paycheck waiting.

I have fun with the games. I don't put myself in the MC shoes, but I do expect the stories to be good. So I guess I take them as seriously as I would a novel I read.

So I get invested in the characters and want the story to be interesting with character growth.

If it's a wankfest, that's about the same as a porn video, not an interesting story. I prefer a good story.

We talking about some poorly written nonsense where MC is in that same boutique for the nth time waiting for some girl to try on clothes in the change room and the artist couldn't be arsed to do a lighting pass? couldn't be bothered.
