Do you play as yourself or roleplay in your games?

  • I play very closely to my actual self

  • I play as a very different character than my actual self

  • I do a little of both depending on how I feel

  • I'm a crazy person that uses the default name

I make them close to my self with adjustments for my Kinks.

I roleplay as a character, but I now kind of play as that same character in all games if that makes sense (same name etc). I weirdly feel like I know him after all these games!

There isn't much point playing as myself. If the game features something I could feasibly do myself, what's the point of playing a game?
I'd rather explore characters I roleplay as from the point of view of that character.

Role playing in the game is not for me but I enjoy it

Either as myself or as another me. It depends on what progresses the best, to be honest. If choices doesn't matter, so does my path.

In the spirit of being more involved on the social side of things, I figured I'd make my first post. So I'm curious, when you are playing a game that allows you to make choices (good/bad, dominant/submissive), do you tend to pretend that the mc character is you, and makes decisions as you would? Or do you play as a character that is different from yourself, possibly even with a different name.

Personally, I tend to play as close to myself as possible, even going as far as playing out certain scenes just to see lewd content but then rolling back if it's not a decision I would personally make in real life. What do you guys do?
I can't be myself in a game because I wouldn't do what characters do. I don't make up a fantasy character because the game forces choices most times. I just try to bend the game to what is interesting (and ignore things that aren't interesting)

I take the main variables from my life but roleplay the way i am in the games. That is the most fun for me because you can act like you want that you normally not act

I usually mix it up.

Usually, I don’t identify with the game character, so I’ll role play as them. I still like what I like, so that role-playing will be close to what I personally want. (Whenever it doesn’t I tend to start skipping content and then abandoning the game…)

I try to roleplay the character and adjust to the setting as much as possible

if i feel like the mc is like relatable to me then i'll go ahead and self-insert buttt sometimes i do like to go completely opposite of who i am and roleplay that way, it's fun as well :3

This is what I do. I want to disassociate myself away from that character per say but also be able to roleplay and from there as you've said this character has grown a bit over time.

When you play a visual novel you think as the main character as yourself OR you think that you are just watching a story about him/her?

I see myself as an omnipotent being. There were times when I put myself in MC's shoes, but it passed quickly

I treat it like reading novel, but sometimes I may get so immersed that I self inserted.
