discussion Do You Like Sandbox Elements in Visual Novels?

I like VN's much more. Sandbox often to much grind

I said it already and will keep saying it.
If the game wastes my time with grinding that doesn´t seem to serve any purpose beyond me thinking about my poor life choices that led me to the point in time in which i wasted my time on shit like that...

then its bad.

But if the "Grinding" is actually "Fun" and not just a waste of time in a Game thats on version 0. fucking 1 with barely any content and on top of that a simply bad and unispired story. Then it can be good.
The problem is the grinding has to be fun and fun in a Porngame/ Visual novel pretty much equals = sexy in some kind of way. Like the age old cliché of your MC taking a job at a Pizza joint and he ends up getting flashed and shit by Random women he "delivers" pizza to.

Of course it does not have to be cliché like that, but just imagine something more interessting than GOING TO WORK.
Espescially if going to work requires me to click up to 5 Times to GET THE MONEY (Or whatever the fuck i am supposed to grind)

The Numeric Goal for the Grind seems stupidly high.

Game Dev´s get an immediate + Point if while in your "Home/Hubarea" there´s a button that literally just lets you go straight to the grind with barely and barriers and overcomplications.

I don't mind some grind when it actually feels worthwhile and contributes to story progression. To many devs use it as a filler though to make a game feel longer. It gets ridiculous when they require you to repeat the same scene several times just to open up one small addition.

I often like them - in theory. When it comes to playing it, they often get extremely repetitive, and sometimes with no clear indication of what's required to progress in the story.

Exactly so. The best sandboxes are almost the best games, but it's so hard to get them right.

Even tho I don't mind grinding since I'm an avid MMO player, the way that grinding on those Sandbox games are just absurd.
And what I mean is the older sandbox games structure of:
-Visit LI Daily on this timeslot
-Get enough points for HJ
-Repeat for TF, BJ, Sex etc.

Thankfully we have some sandbox games that are done right nowadays

If a sandbox is well made it's a pleasure to play. The main advantage is that you can focus on a specific girl to immediately see all the content with her. At the same time you can completely or almost ignore those who are not interesting to you at all. But such games are often boring to play, the grind is poorly designed and kills the whole mood.

Sandbox is bad when you have to grind but one of the good side is that you can usually mostly focus on the girls you like the most and only interact with the one you like less when it's needed for the story

Feel like a grind is okay but specifically not in a sandbox. It's too easy to get lost on what you're actually supposed to be doing.

i avoid them, i don't have the patience to play them anymore, i might consider them if they can be cheated easily

Grinds are okay if you are rewarded. But if it's any more tedious it's just annoying.

Sandbox games are nice I think. I would like one with 3dcg and generational Incest. Does someone know a good one?

I don't mind grinding, except when the game makes you grind the exact same sex scenes to farm "affection points". Nobody wants to see the exact same bath scene 50 times over with the same dialogue and renders.
