Do you like porn games with more or less mechanics and systems? And what's a game at the OPPOSITE end of the scale that you like anyway?

Depends. If it works, than I am down for anything.

But in general, no. I care more about story and/or how erotic the game is overall.

I didnt like the generic combat system in RPGM games but after i played Tail Of Desire i started liking it a bit :D

I tend to stray away from puzzle mechanics as they are generally time consuming and grindy. Stuff I can skip or go through quickly are generally better for me since my time is limited after work.

Mechanics are fine when it's not grind for the sake of grind at the detriment of story. I shouldn't be working the fields like I'm grinding out gold and xp on a vanilla rate KRO server. However if it's done in a fun and interesting way, I'm not against mini-games and the like.

I tend to prefer less. It's not because I dislike it. Most devs are not good at it. So most of the time it just ends up being bad and really grindy.

Some games can pull of using more mechanics and keeping the game decent but due to most not being able to if it's a yes no choice I choose less mechanics since it turns nearly every game way too grindy.

I think the worst mechanics is when you have to do an action x number of times to get an event then you have to discover what other action's repetition will unlock something else...

Generally like more mechanics, but sometimes just reading a VN can be nice as well

Just like most games they don't need a million mechanics, just a couple of strong ones with a decent skill ceiling. Porn will get me in, but it won't make me stay.

Side note: If there's only one or two choices and most of the game railroads you, why is it labeled a VN? I'll give a pass for new devs, but if you don't want a branching storyline then just make a KN or better a comic. At least then I won't be tempted to hold ctrl for 5 minutes only to find out the story was the game.

minimal, i'm trying to jerk off. If I want more of a challenge I'll play something sfw

Love Tamas Awakening. Also love Lab Rats 2.

Ces la vie

Sometimes more mechanics can be interesting but if it’s just trying to make the game play longer it’s obnoxious

It depends if i am in the mood. There it is some games with cool mechanics, but a lot of them just make a game too complicated

I actually like games with mechanic. There is this one, a rogue like, that the mechanics are great. Also there are some good management games, and even tower defense games that I found entertaining to play, and even forgot about the lewd part

somehow, I love sandbox mechanics and procedural generations. It feels closer to a game to me than just a "movie" with some choices. or even just a "movie"

I play both, but there not use in the same way.

I don't mind minigames if they add to the story, if it's just there for filler content then it's just wasting my time, anything that gets added to a VN/KN or even HTML game must add some value to the gameplay to make it worth investing my time in it

I enjoy good game mechanics... and that is the problem too often the good is horrible due to ether poor balancing or not fully implemented.
Family Venture from what I remember has a decent mechanic to it for the money. It's hard in the start but develops where it's not difficult to get ahead by the end, one thing I would change is allowing the player to buy ads for X days instead of daily.
On the flip side A Home in the Desert is not doing things well atm (Dev is listening though at least). Money is a pain and remains then you have to worry about food but it's not simple you have to buy each ingredient for each recipe and you are gonna need to keep track of it oh and the ingredients are divided on pages by meat, dairy and the like. It's currently 95% game mechanics and not much game play. Oh and you don't have a way to increase the amount you get and get slapped with some BS weekly tax...

A game mechanic should enhance the game, not be the game unless it becomes symbiotic.
An example of game mechanic being symbiotic to the game is Voronica Goes to Town (Vore / Giantess game). The mechanic is you only have so much room in your stomach so you can't just keep eating people, plus every time you do the suspicion by law enforcement goes up and if it gets too high that is bad news. Further you get points which you can invest into Voronica to improve her from loosing heat faster to digesting faster, being stronger to more agile all which helps with eating more people. (It's not only eating people but mostly)
The mechanic ties into what the game is making it an actual game and not just a VN.

The biggest problem I find is devs don't know how to balance the mechanics. They use it as a filler so the game plays longer but they ask for too much effort for little pay out in return. I don't know how many games I've played with mechanics and by time I get to the scene I'm already over it.

To be clear having to work towards something can make the payout better as you feel like you accomplished something, but the payout must meet the investment and too many people don't know how to balance that so it no longer feels like you accomplished a goal but rather were given a break from work. The moment you feel like the game is like work / chore than you have messed up.
